Poste et missions:
Are you interested in taking up a challenging position in a small and enthusiastic Research and Development team of Boehringer Ingelheim? We are the industry leader in the fight against foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV). In the FMD Biological R&D laboratory in Lelystad, the Netherlands, research on live virus is possible at high containment level. Using several small scale (5 ml, 400 ml 20L) bioreactor systems as a small scale model, vaccine production can be investigated. All analytical assays to study vaccine properties and yields, such as ELISA, VNTs, PCR and plaque titrations are operational. We are also investing in numerous novel techniques and next generation technologies.
Currently, we are looking for an enthusiastic VIE to reinforce our dynamic team in Lelystad. You technically participate in the advancement of projects leading to the development of new and/or improved vaccines against viral pathogens in livestock species, contributing to veterinary public health. You design, plan, conduct and report studies in your area of expertise. This will amongst others include:
- Design, plan, conduct and report studies in the field of: virology (tissue culture, viral propagation and titration), serology (ELISA, VNT), molecular biology (RT-PCR, cloning, sequencing) and similar.
- Perform USP for the production of vaccines in mammalian cell culture using the new technologies.
- Take lead in the preparation of protocols and laboratory workload
- After analysis of results, formulates a work hypothesis, comes up with conclusions and proposes additional studies
- Identify, propose and develop, in consultation with his/her management, new methods, technologies and equipment
- Actively surveys the scientific / technical literature in his/her area of expertise
Profil:
Cell/molecular Biology/ Biotechnology
Experience in molecular cloning, transfection, cell culturing, (molecular) virology, bio process development
Knowledge of immunology, cellular and viral culture, biochemistry & immunology, molecular biology, formulation and Good Laboratory Practices.
Good knowledge of standard software programs (word, excel, power point)
