Position Description

A vacancy has arisen within the R&D Engineering Department for a Technical Intern. This position will begin Jan 2016 and go for 1 year.

Position Responsibilities

To develop products for use in medical procedures as defined/required by the business needs of the company, Including electronic systems.
Work with DRM/DFSS experts, development teams and project managers to develop templates and reports to manage new product requirements, risks and use conditions in product development process software
To provide technical support to product and process development.
To monitor and evaluate safety practices and ensure compliance with legislation.
To lead multidiscipline teams in planning & implementing the introduction of new products, in line with Marketing plans.
Effectively represent Medtronic Vascular externally with our customers.
To be actively involved in sourcing, testing and approving materials.
To establish the most effective, reliable and cost effect processing methods for manufacturing operations.
To support the introduction/implementation of product/process/materials changes to the manufacturing operation.
To provide technical support on field related activities such as clinical programs and complaint investigations.
To undertake specific projects as designated in support of the business activities of Medtronic.
To document design/development/test activities as required in Engineering Laboratory notebooks.
To understand and operate to departmental and company quality procedures

Electrical/Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering field preferred. Proficient in 2 or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Java, Javascript, HTML/CSS.
Basic knowledge of medical device design process, FDA regulations, international standards.
