MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
As appropriate and when applicable, utilize the 9 subsystems of COS to monitor the Quality, Service  and Cost metrics of the workcell, ensuring that quality standards are never compromised, Standard Work is followed, equipment is functioning, employee morale is strong, safety standards are adhered to, material is available, and daily customer demand is achieved.  Additionally, Team Leaders will support continuous improvement activities within the defined processes through observations/interactions and through leading basic problem solving activities with employees in the gemba.  As needed, the Team Leader will perform a variety of repetitive and semi-repetitive, meticulous assembly operations where methods and sequence of assembly are provided from visual aids, method layouts, diagrams, schematics, process flow sheets as well as other written or verbal assembly instructions.

MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Leverage the cell infrastructure to advance the effective and efficient operation of the Medtronic Cell Operating System
• Observe, maintain, and improve workcell standardized work and standardized WIP
• Coach Sr. Production Associates to meet process requirements and standardized work
• Assign Sr. Production Associates to work station based on need
• Insure 5S assessments are conducted
• Promote organization for operational readiness (5S)
• Maintain GMP compliance for the workcell
• Insure material flows to and from the workcell
• Schedule daily workflow and provide feedback to help maintain level operations
• Identify situations where “stop and fix” should apply
• Support Quality Management audits as needed
• Maintain visual systems including mathematical calculations of metrics, troubleshoot issues, escalate abnormal situations/issues
• Facilitate communication between Sr. Production Associates, technicians, engineers and others to ensure issues are promptly resolved
• Ensure effective transfer of information between Shifts
• Escalate employee relations issues to Group Leader
• Use basic problem solving skills to ensure stable operation of the workcell.  Escalate workcell issues within the correct timeframe
• Using LLB, understand where issues are, utilize kaizen and troubleshooting skills to solve problems and determine countermeasures
• Facilitate daily reflection meetings to involve SPAs in continuous learning and basic problem solving
• Work on line as required (20%)
• Other job duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 
 REQUIREMENTS
• Graduated from high school, or passed GED/HiSET
• Computer literate (SAP/Microsoft Office)
• Two+ years of production experience
• Ability to read, understand and work with detailed visual aids such as method layouts, detailed diagrams, schematics, process flow sheets and related assembly documentation
• Ability to use various hand tools and power assisted assembly tools that are common to the medical device industry
• Ability to demonstrate a record of excellent performance in meeting high standards of quality, quantity and dependability (attendance and punctuality)
• Ability to provide concentrated visual and mental attention
• Ability to work overtime as required
• Ability to work well with others, and ability to work well on teams
• Ability to move to different work stations

 
 PREFERENCES
• Previous medical device assembly experience at Medtronic
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
• Area process flow knowledge
• Problem solving skills
• Certified SAP Power User
• Previous medical device assembly experience.
