JOB SUMMARY:
The Product Manager demonstrates quality in all actions; Develops and executes the strategic and tactical business plan and initiatives for current and/or future HeartWare devices used to treat heart failure. He/she bridges research and development, manufacturing and sales to manage a product’s life cycle. The Product Manager guides product introductions and product updates, working in coordination with Field Representatives, Marketing Communications, Research & Development, Reimbursement & Health Outcomes, Finance, Clinical, and Regulatory Affairs and orchestrates the execution of all marketing related programs. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Guide product introductions and product updates
• Create and execute market research plans to identify customer needs and market requirements
• Define global product concepts, create marketing specifications, assess and quantify the business impact, and create initial marketing segmentation and positioning
• Develop recommendations for technical product direction, serve as marketing representative on core teams, and help drive voice of the customer (VOC) throughout the product development process to ensure global clinical and product requirements are incorporated
• Participate in market research related to product launch planning, branding and segmentation, positioning, market acceptance, etc.
• Establish marketing plans, pricing strategies, and product positioning
• Inform and train US/International Field Representatives in the use of new techniques and products
• Lead new product launches and assist with the development and execution of field support programs
• Drive the development of sales & educational tools and support materials by attaining a thorough understanding of the products, procedure, and competition
• Develop product forecasts and track business performance against objectives and forecasts; formulate new approaches and strategies as needed
• Establish and develop key internal and external relationships, including cross functional teams, field teams and thought leaders
• Travel in field regularly to assess customer and field opinions on existing products and overall market climate

Extensive travel in the US and abroad.

Desired profile
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• BA/BS required
• 1-3 years of successful related marketing, consulting, sales and/or product management experience.
• Experience must include accountability, customer interaction, and a direct connection to revenue
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Masters’ degree a plus
• 3+ years of experience in medical device, biotech or pharmaceutical industry
• Product management and/or marketing experience
• Demonstrated success in working in a matrix organization
Environmental Factors /Work environment:
Work is performed inside a professional office environment/office building, with ambient temperature and under florescent lighting, with minimal noise levels. Incumbent routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, phone, filing cabinets and fax machines.
