Position Description:
Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions. Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders, and requests for quotes to suppliers. Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity. Monitors the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value. Leads and participates in continuous improvement projects to improve cost, inventory levels, and supply performance.

Position Responsibilities:
Analyze incoming requisitions and shortage reports for quality, specification, pricing and delivery requirements. Develop and investigate sources of supply, issue requests for quotations on those items not covered by an existing purchasing agreement.
•Manage inventories, monitor usage, establish inventory targets and place purchase orders for both supply and inventory items as required. Coordinate material plans based upon the S&OP, master schedule and BOM.
•Prepare and issue purchase orders, expedite deliveries, resolve payment and quality problems with suppliers and Supplier quality functions. Maintain computerized purchasing system database, investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve delivery/receiving problems. Work with accounts receivable and suppliers to resolve purchase order receiving, invoicing, and reconciliation activities.
•Conduct negotiations with potential suppliers to obtain agreement on pricing, delivery, specifications, performance terms and acceptance criteria. Generate the most suitable purchasing arrangement such as contracts, blanket orders and vendor stocking arrangements to facilitate downstream purchasing and obtain optimum pricing. Develop vendor managed inventory strategies where applicable, including vendor carried inventory practices
•Conduct supplier visits/evaluations to determine suitability and analyze supplier performance. Participate in meetings with supplier management to discuss all aspects of their business and develop effective relationships
•Assure qualified suppliers are identified for all components and services required for Medtronic product lines. Work with existing suppliers to improve performance or identify alternate suppliers to maintain a supplier base that meets Medtronic requirements for supply plans, cost out, and inventory reduction.
•Advise management of industry competitive situations, alternate supply sources, raw material costs, commodity price trends, and supply/demand situations which may impact the business. Originate ways to effect cost savings
•Demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork and Quality Business System Requirements.
•Proactively manage ECO implementations.
•Embrace COS (cell operating system), DMAIC A3 problem solving, and lean concepts
•Perform other related tasks as required.

Desired profile

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
•2+ years purchasing or planning experience; including internships
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word)
•Experience with inventory management, purchasing, and/or supply chain

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a highly regulated environment
•SAP and JDE experience
•Advanced Excel training, including vlookup, pivot tables, formulas, macros, etc.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
•Experience multi-tasking and executing within tight timelines
•Purchasing or planning experience in a hospital, laboratory, biotechnology, research or pharmaceutical environment
•Supply chain accreditation CPSM, CPIM, CPM or other
