Import Customer Service

Part Time - Thursday and Friday 9-17:30

MSC UK prides itself on being the 'Employer of Choice’ within the shipping industry and we have an exciting opportunity for a Customer Service Co-ordinator, to join our busy Customer Service Co-ordinator - Merchant Haulage on a part time contract. The successful candidate will offer a value added service to MSC’s customers to attend effectively to our customer’s release requirements. The role requires excellent data processing skills in accordance with department and company procedures. Ensuring all Original bills of Lading and Monies are duly received and correctly endorsed prior to release of cargoes.

We believe the successful Customer Service Co-ordinator - Merchant Haulage should have the following skills:

  • Accurate data entry skills in numeracy, literacy and IT
  • A flexible approach and 'can do' attitude is essential.
  • Compliance with MSC's email and telephone etiquette
  • Destin8 & CNS knowledge
  • Building Customer relationships.
  • Ensure high attention to detail on instructions
  • Commercial awareness related to the Import shipment
  • Time management
  • Attention to detail, high level of accuracy in order to minimise errors and loss to MSC.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines.
  • Maintain good customer relationships of new and existing business.
  • Excellent communication and team work.
  • Strong team player


The key tasks for the Customer Service Co-ordinator - Merchant Haulage role are:

  • Maintain incoming emails effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure all emailed releases are processed in a timely and error free basis
  • Full and accurate completion of files and system in accordance with import process and procedures
  • Ensure any charges quoted on the release of goods are correct
  • Proactive communication with customers and Internal stakeholders
  • Ensure all documents relating to the Merchant Haulage release process are correctly put into Easy file
  • Delivery of excellent customer service, dealing with emailed release requests promptly and effectively
  • Ensure all emailed releases are processed in a timely and error free
  • Assist other colleagues/teams as and when required.
  • Meet agreed deadlines and follow up action where needed.
