UK Financial Accountant

Salary - £48,000 - £60,000 + 12% Bonus + Benefits

The purpose of this role is to manage the production of Mars' UK and Ireland statutory reporting ensuring that director’s fiduciary duties to prepare audited financial statements are met. Support the UK Tax Manager deliver UK & Irish Corporation Tax reporting ensuring appropriate Corporation tax reporting, filing and payments.

This role is responsible for ensuring that corporation’s reputation is maintained through high quality external reporting and relationships in conjunction with safeguarding the cash of the business through best practice corporation tax in conjunction with UK Tax Manager, corporate tax staff and external advisors.

This is a specialised area, co-ordinating and consolidating financial and legal activities for the UK and Irish legal entities, and providing advice, training and expertise related to financial accounting and taxation to the operating units. Each of these areas falls outside the normal day-to-day Finance responsibilities within a Mars operating unit. The jobholder will be a specialist in each of these areas and will be expected to work with low levels of supervision. Success in the role will be measured partly by the absence of interference form external sources.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Preparation of Financial Statements for the Mars' Legal entities In UK and Ireland, including managing the audit. Manage the Statutory reporting process, coordinating with the corporate reporting process, PwC and the units to ensure that data required for the production of the financial statements is available on time.
·  Providing training to the UK and Irish units to enable them to comply with statutory reporting requirements.
·  Manage the Corporation Tax return submissions, including co-ordination between PwC, the UK & Irish units and overseas units, ensuring data required for corporation tax is available on time, reviewing corporation tax data and resolving queries with units on the data and tax deductibility of expenses.
·  Manage and co-ordinate between PwC & units with respect to Corporation Tax including compliance, adoption of best practice, training, risk management and appropriate communication of changes.
·  Forecasting and administration of Corporation Tax payments including liaison with the operating units
·  Managing the transfer pricing tax risk management and reporting process, analysing transfer prices data and Working with PwC, corporate tax staff & units to ensure that the annual Transfer Pricing risk is effectively managed, to support Corporation Tax filings.
·  Manage the preparation of corporate tax reporting, particularly related to reporting of local taxation and accounting position for US financial statements and tax return e.g. FIN48, OnesSource submissions.
·  Statutory reporting team leader.

To do this role you’ll need:

·  ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualified accountant or part-qualified accountant with significant relevant finance experience from a practice or statutory reporting background
·  The job holder will need strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, the ability to prioritise and manage large volumes of work and meet deadlines and experience in managing small projects.
·  Experience group consolidations and corporation tax will be helpful
