*This is a 16 month contract assignment and is able to be based remotely, however, preference is to sit at the Guelph site.

Job Purpose:
Royal Canin is a value-driven company that considers the true needs of the pet in the development of dog and cat nutritional products. Scientific & Corporate Affairs is at the heart of Royal Canin, inspiring the passion and advancing and sharing the science required to develop and deliver the best pet nutrition.

A Technical Services Veterinarian is responsible for providing technical expertise on the Case Consultation Service, and generating insight back into the business. Additionally, they represent and promote both Royal Canin and its products to the veterinary profession by liaising with key opinion leaders, veterinary schools and animal health technician colleges. They are responsible for participating in strategic planning sessions in a cross-business product planning team, implementing the marketing business plan and developing and executing training sessions and materials.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical support to the veterinary community (veterinarians, veterinary technicians and support staff) through the Veterinary Case Consultation Service encompassing dietary recommendations and clinical case management, combining precise nutrition and current Gold Standard medical approaches
• Develop technical training programs and internal and external resources as required for various audiences (i.e. presentations, workshops, technical bulletins, eLearning, etc.)
• Keep abreast of current knowledge and trends in the scientific community and gather competitive intelligence data through the Veterinary Case Consultation Service, conference attendance, field activities and key opinion leader liaisons
• Assist with formulating messaging in response to technical challenges that may arise, keeping brand reputation and current Gold Standard scientific knowledge at the forefront
• Manage customer complaints and concerns with support from the team manager
• Adhere to applicable Quality & Food Safety Policies and Quality Management System requirements to ensure compliance to MARS Standards
• Other duties as assigned

Context and Scope:
• Foster and maintain internal relationships with Marketing, Sales, Research & Development, and Clinical Research across pillars to maximize synergies and efficiencies
• Support Technical Services Coordinators and Consumer Care Associates through internal education programs (i.e. Rounds, Bootcamps, etc.)
• Support external education programs (i.e. plant tours, webinars, etc.)
• Provide input and support to the development of eLearning and training modules
• Assist with cross-pillar needs as required
• Customer requirements may vary dependent on region

Key Knowledge/Experiences:
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Scientific knowledge (general sciences, manufacturing, veterinary, nutrition, food science)
• Technical aptitude and computer literate
• Strong team player
• Comfortable presenting in front of a group
• Organizational, planning and time management skills
• Demonstrated experience in business and/or sales an asset
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, planning and time management skills
• Resilience to change, working under pressure and lean organizational structure

Minimum Requirements:
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
• Member in good standing with provincial licensing body

• Passion for pet nutrition

Preferred Requirements:
• Demonstrated knowledge of pet nutrition
• Experience in small animal practice and/or business management

• Bilingual (French/English) an asset
