The Sheeting Operator is responsible for operating automated sheeting equipment used to produce gum base following the established manufacturing procedures.

Job Accountabilities

• Perform a wide range of semi-skilled and unskilled jobs in the Processing Department.

• Frequently perform quality assurance checks throughout the day inspecting for gum quality.

• Responsible for placing trays on the line.

• Responsible for completing quality documentation accurately in accordance with standards.

• Responsible for operating a forklift to move skids of gum from the up stacker to the cooling tunnels.

• Without guidance, the Sheeting Operator troubleshoots mechanical breakdowns, cleans machine jams and adjusts the machine to minimize downtime and promote productivity.

• Responsible for meeting production requirements on a daily basis.

• Required to notify the Sr. Sheeting Operator and/or mechanic when they identify problems with the machine and to notify their supervisor for gum quality issues.

• With guidance from a mechanic or Sr. Sheeting Operator, the Sheeting Operator helps to trouble shoot more complex machinery breakdowns and repairs.

• Responsible to change materials, processes and product as identified in the standard processes. This includes appropriate cleaning and washout procedures during color changeovers or as required.

• Responsible for performing periodic Autonomous Maintenance activities on the Sheeting Machine to ensure that it is always performing at peak efficiencies. These include cleaning, inspection, lubrication and reporting abnormalities, etc.

• Perform general housekeeping duties around the machine such as sweeping floors, cleaning machine parts and other duties as assigned.

• Responsible for the use of proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and meeting all safety guidelines as outlined by the company.

• The position may be required to provide backup coverage for the Sr. Sheeting Operator when needed.

Skills Required

·  High school diploma or equivalent
·  1 year of production experience
·  Mechanical aptitude to understand and solve machine operations
·  Independently operate sheeting machines meeting all safety, quality and productivity requirements.
·  Participate as a team player in accomplishing all company goals and objectives

Physical requirements:

·  Frequent pushing/pulling/rolling empty and full trim barrels, rolling compound, and sugar barrels (20-1200 lbs.)
·  Frequent pulling gum of trays (25 lbs.)
·  Frequent lifting above shoulders of both empty and full gum trays (5-25 lbs.)
·  Frequent standing
·  Frequent bending/kneeling/crouching/twisting

This position requires a Work Keys Certification and successful completion of the Standard Timing Model Assessment.
