Job Purpose
The Scientist QMP provides functional leadership to implement, maintain, and improve Quality Management Program across the Business Unit and Market Units within the Americas region. This role is a member of the Business Unit Central Systems team. This role partners with R&D and manufacturing site teams to facilitate the effective implementation and standardization of Mars processes based on regional and global initiatives as well as regulatory requirements. Their main interfaces outside Q&FS are with Commercial (sourcing, buying operations, and supplier quality), Product Development, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, and Supply (operations and physical logistics).
Key Responsibilities
· Implement, maintain, and improve the Market Unit QMP for the Americas. This includes but is not limited to: applicable Global Food Safety and Regulatory Standards, Internal Audit, CAPA, Document Control, PRIMP, Change Management.
· Leadership and management of the Market Unit QMR for the Americas at planned intervals to ensure suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the Q&FS management programs
· Leadership and management of third party audits of Market Unit QMP ensuring any findings have a robust corrective actions
· Partners with Supply, R&D and other key stakeholders to implement changes, new process or new products in a safe manner
· Responsible for reviewing compliance reporting to Global standards, leading gap assessment to the standards and regulatory requirements
· Deliver training of QMP related processes to associates within the region
Qualifications
Education
· BS degree in Food Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Packaging, Engineering or related technical field
· Advanced Degree in Food Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Packaging, Engineering or related technical field would be a plus
Knowledge/Experience
· 3-5 years of experience in different quality related areas such as raw materials, packaging, distribution, manufacturing, quality management systems
· 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing site with management of quality systems
· Ability to travel 20% of the time
· Food Science, Food safety risk identification and management, HACCP and prerequisite controls
· Product Quality Custodian, Statistical Process Control and Process improvement methodologies
· Knowledge of and experience with ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems
· Knowledge of GMP, food allergens, pest control, sanitation, and food safety regulations
Perferred:
· 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing site with management of quality systems
· Experienced in implementation or management of GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000 or ISO9000
