Job description

A mutually rewarding experience.

Work. Realize your ambitions. And realize there’s more to being in business than just making a profit. That’s the Mars philosophy. And the opportunity we offer every one of our Associates. An opportunity to take what you do and make it mean more for you, for those around you and for the planet.  What you get here is challenging, interesting work. You get the tools you need to do a great job and you get to have the best possible people on your side to help you do it. And at the same time as getting to find ways to do business better today than we did it yesterday and driving a great career, you also get to build a more enlightened business and drive sustainability.

Because it’s never just about a single person, a single project or a single brand. It’s about how you can grab everything that’s within your reach here and use it to pursue mutual, long-term gain. It’s about having ideas. And ideals. Being prepared to risk failure because the promise of success means we’ll all be a little better off. It’s that mix of integrity and ambition that makes Mars such a special place to work. And why working here is always about more than just a job.

General Instructions for Packaging Operator

Line clearance must be completed prior to bringing the materials or finished product onto the production packaging line.

All materials must be verified using a current printed version of the Bill of Material (BOM). The BOM can be generated from SAP via a CS13 or CS11 transaction.

Any X-ray challenge card that is lost must be escalated immediately to the shift manager and a Quality representative.

Rejected cooked pouches from the packaging production line or from rework/re-inspection must be denatured by tearing the pouch or puncturing the pouch prior to discarding into a waste container for disposal.

In the event that product from a retort load needs to get discarded in packaging prior to casing it out, the following must be performed to make sure that all product is removed and properly discarded.

Remove any pouches at the unloader that may be kicked offline from the pouch present sensor.

Remove all pouches downstream in kickoff containers that are okay to be placed back online.

Place operators at the appropriate locations to remove the pouches prior to the caser and discard in the appropriate container.

Place a physical barrier stop on the line or add an additional operator downstream of the operators that are removing the pouches to prevent any pouches from going downstream into the caser.

Inspect the line and remove any pouches that may by outside of the conveyor in the unloading area, down the conveyor line, and any rejection points prior to the operators removing product.

Once all of the above steps have been completed, fill out a certification of destruction for the affected product.

In the event that the computer system is unavailable to document the online quality checks for the production batch, print out the manual backup paper forms to document quality checks for the production run.

The following equipment and reference documents are needed to perform the tasks described in this document. Additional items or documents will be listed as necessary.
