Intern EU Packaging R&D (m/f)

Starting Spring (March/April) 2016 for 6 months

 

Are you a fan of brands like Wrigley’s EXTRA, 5GUM or Airwaves? Are you ready for new experiences? Then, we are looking for you to join our European Packaging team.

 

Basic purpose:

 

Support the EU Packaging R&D Team in the delivery of Innovation, Productivity, Sustainability, New Technology and Customer Packaging initiatives in Europe.

 

Your responsibilities :

 

• Projects – support and lead specific New Product Development and Cost Savings projects including new structural packaging developments, brand renovations and material changes as part of a cross-functional team

• Contribute to idea generation, prototyping, testing and trialing to deliver projects to shelf

• Practice project management skills to develop testing and execution plans to meet deadlines

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners

• Specifications – develop and document packaging material specifications

• Technology – develops understanding of Wrigley and competitor packaging formats, materials and manufacturing equipment highlighting opportunities for optimization of existing packs to Global Packaging and wider business

 

Context and Scope:

 

• Support the European Region (all countries)

• Works with a wide range of internal stakeholders including marketing, design, product development, global packaging, supply chain, commercial, quality, sales

• Also works with external stakeholders including packaging material suppliers, testing labs, design firms

• Develop test methods, establish or refine specifications, documents standards and testing protocols for relevant initiatives

• Meets key project milestones, appropriately highlighting risks to timings or quality

 

Your qualifications:

 

• Studying a Bachelors or Masters in Packaging or related field (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Material Sciences)

• Language requirements – fluent in English mandatory

• Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint;Project a plus)

• Previous experience gained through industrial placement a plus

• Broad general knowledge of Packaging materials and conversion processes, including flexible films, paperboard, corrugated board, rigid plastic/metal packaging

• General knowledge of packaging software a plus (CAD-Artios, Solidworks, etc; Palletization-CAPE, TOPS)

• Ability to communicate and work in multinational cross functional teams

• Strong communication skills and autonomy to complete tasks with critical thinking

• Willing to travel occasionally within Europe
