Mars Chocolate North America is looking for an Industrial Engineering Manager in Hackettstown, NJ.

 

The Segment Industrial Engineering Manager provides analysis and support for the Business Management Team under the direction of the Segment Planning Manager to drive overall excellence in customer service and value within the product segment.  The position will identify and evaluate financial opportunities and recommend solutions that will drive overall pipeline effectiveness and continuous improvement.  The position will also drive timely implementation of these and other initiatives at plants and across segment production lines.  Primary interface is with the Segment Planning Manager, Site Activity/IE Managers, Plant Directors, R&D, Marketing, Operations and other functional business areas as required in plants and National Office.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Segment Growth/Profit Strategy (1-2 Year Horizon)

• Assist in analysis of new ideas for feasibility and financial viability

• Assist in evaluation of customization requests

• Monitor performance and timing of relevant items through Change Management Process to ensure timely flow and accomplishment of planned production dates

• Tactical Supply Execution

• Maintain tight and timely communication links to and from the plants

• Recommend and implement tools to monitor and optimize supply performance

• Maintain accurate catalogue of process, product and packaging capabilities relevant to leveraging existing platforms for growth

• Identify and recommend methods to alleviate constraints on equipment and output

• Assist in tactical capacity and utilization scenarios

• Analysis of in-house vs. contracted manufacturing

• Co-ordinate with plants and operations planners to address short term supply risks

• In partnership with Finance and Segment IE Manager, develop and follow Capital Projects to ensure timely approval

• Provide Project Engineers with target line metrics for capital installations

• Assist plants in developing and monitoring project startup curves

• Provide input to Regional and Global Reports

• In conjunction with Finance and Procurement, identify and contribute to the execution of  COGS activities

• Associate Development

• Disseminate/co-ordinate IE info sharing both inside and outside the IE sphere

• For IE Technicians or IE Co-op students:

• Coach direct reports on approach, style, career path

• Provide input related to IE functional competency development plan

• Review objectives and priorities

• Provide supplemental input to PDPs as required or requested

• Train IE community in areas of IE expertise

• Personal Development

• Stays abreast of managerial and technical state of the art both within and outside of Mars, Inc.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Management, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering required, or significant equivalent experience.

 

2 years of related work experience (Operations Line Manager, Site Industrial Engineer, Project Engineer, Logistics Manager, Supply Chain Management)

 

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

 

Successful Completion of a drug and background screen

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

MBA or advanced degree

 

3 + years of related work experience (Operations Line Manager, Site Industrial Engineer, Project Engineer, Logistics Manager, Supply Chain Management)
