Jpb Purpose:

To support the ESH Manager in developing

·  A robust ESH Management System that will
·  Improve the health and safety conditions of the current workplace as well as an environmentally sustainable workplace and to
·  Embed a culture of health and safety that will ensure

Corporate and legal requirements governing ESH are consistently met.

Roles & Responisibilities:

·  Provide support for the implementation of the Nairobi Site HSE Management System by doing the following:
·  Develop an environmental aspect register and environmental impact plans for identified significant environmental aspects for the Nairobi site. Perform regular reviews & updates on the register;
·  Review and update the existing risk register and continually develop mitigation plans for identified safety hazards for the Nairobi site. Perform regular reviews & updates on the register;
·  Perform regular deep dive audits on site procedures using the HSE Management System Gap Assessment Tool to ensure that procedures meet the module requirements to a 90% level of confidence;
· 
·  Assist in the development, review & and implementation of Nairobi Site's HSE Procedures.
·  Support the HSE manager in embedding a safe working culture by doing the following
·  Driving the Near miss reporting program as Near Miss Reporting Champion;
·  Driving the CARES program as the Behavior Based Safety Champion;
·  Championing the Live-safe campaign.
·  Conduct regular inspections and manage an audit plan to ensure systems and procedures are working effectively, by doing the following
·  Develop an inspection plan for environmental & safety standards and ensure inspections are done regularly;
·  Develop an audit plan for HSE standards and ensure audits are done as planned;
·  Ensure corrective action plans arising from audits and inspections are followed up, reviewed and closed on time.
·  Ensure that Environmental, Safety & Health documents and record keeping requirements are met. This shall include, but will not be limited to
·  Requirements of the document control procedure for the site;
·  Regulatory documentation;
·  Documents and records required by various ESH standards;
·  Documentation of safe systems of work and one point lessons as and when required;
·  Daily, weekly, periodic and quarterly reports.
·  Providing support during various internal and external environmental, safety and health audits that shall occur on site from time to time
·  Ensure that the identified local ESH regulatory requirements are consistently met through regular updates of the Legal Register.
·  Assist in emergency situations (spill response, fire marshalling & first aid) and investigation of accidents and incidents, and ensuring reports of accidents are submitted on time.
·  Liaise with engineering and production teams to assist in reviewing and evaluating ESH requirements for any new projects and/or modifications at the site. This shall include
·  Implementation of the safe-start checklists for new projects
·  Machine safety checklists for new or modified equipment
·  Conduct HSE training programs that shall include, but will not be limited to
·  Contractor induction training;
·  Visitor induction training;
·  Training on specific ESH modules as per training program.
·  Assist the HSE Manager in any general HSE initiatives undertaken at the site.

Education & Professional Qualification

·  Bachelor's Degree or a Higher National Diploma in a science based field.
·  3-5 years working experience in an environmental and health and safety field. Strong bias in environmental management will be an added advantage.
·  Broad knowledge of the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA 1999) and its subsidiary legislation must be demonstrated. Knowledge of OSHA 2007 and its subsidiary legislation also required.
·  Excellent IT & communication skills are a must (report writing and presentation skills).
·  Demonstration of analytical thinking and problem solving.
