Job Purpose/Overview

 

As P&O Subject Matter Expert: Ensure the execution of the Signature People Processes in compliance with the accuracy, timeliness and governance targets, either directly or, depending on the nature of the process, by 1)- Empowering, coaching, partnering with and facilitating tools to Line Managers and; 2) Fully leveraging the services and systems in the P&O Operating Model (Service Centers/MyP&O, CoEs, iTMS, etc) and the wider P&O team.

As Guardian of the Culture : promotes, guides, lives and role models the Five Principles, The Associate Concept and the Mars culture. As Associate Advocate ensures fairness and consistency in policies, practices and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partner: Becomes knowledgeable of the business strategy, store objectives and priorities and aligns them for the execution of the P&O agenda, Signature People Processes and the creation of a GPTW. Partner with the store Leadership Team via High Performance Collaboration Practices (meetings, conflict management and decision making protocols) to identify the existing and future needs to ensure effective and efficient delivery of all the P&O services.

Demand Planning: Ensures the plans for effective and timeline staffing of talent are in place to ensure coverage for the expected traffic during the year.

Talent Sourcing and Recruitment: Identifies sources to recruit top talent and develop and maintains relationships with key organizations (i.e academies, colleges) and the retail industry community and leverages social media reach for sourcing. Proactively and constantly sources for external top talent that fits the Mars Retail profile, creating organization space to bring in talent to enhance the pipeline. Executes the recruitment processes using the systems with high quality and according to the approved process and deadlines and train the managers on interviewing techniques and Mars Recruitment with Excellence philosophy. Shape and execute tactics to integrate new joiners for high performance and effective adaptation to our culture.

Associate Engagement: Provides coaching and guidance to Line Managers on how to embed engagement into our thinking and behaviors, day-to-day operations, processes, policies and initiatives to ensure better business performance through the highest levels of associate engagement and retention. Assist Line Manager in applying tools to improve Engagement levels and monitors compliance with Action Planning and Follow-Through for 100% of teams.

Learning & Development: In partnership with store management teams, ensures that all associates are trained and have the tools to succeed on job expectations utilizing all Retail Academy and Mars Leadership training (i.e: Essence of Mars, L1, etc). Facilitate specific training for LMs and Associates as needed and identified by store operations and P&O.

Performance Management Process: Provides assistance and coaching to the management team with the performance appraisal processes both for the non-exempt and exempt associates and in the creation of IBO’s and IDP’s in the system (iTMS). Monitors that Line Managers are complying with the PDP timeline and holding frequent, high quality, structured 1:1s for mutual feedback to incent daily performance and continuous learning and development. Provide insight and partnership to the Leadership Team on how to improve the general level of performance of individuals and teams.

Associate Relations: Consults and makes recommendations to Line Managers and/or associates in the store to ensure timely, consistency with policies and fair resolution on all aspects of associate-related issues including performance concerns, policy and procedure interpretation, investigations, and terminations. Mantains proper documentation, communications, physical or electronic records and reporting in compliance with deadlines and the law. Advices changes or revisions according to trends, local law and help introduce or explain new or revised P&O policies.

Rewards and Effectiveness: Educates and communicates to associates and line managers about key compensation and benefits programs, including leading the open enrollment process and any other Total Rewards/People changes. Guides the associates and line managers to the appropriate channel for questions regarding compensation, benefits and wellbeing programs/policies. Ensures the correct associate information is processed with timeliness and accuracy by the ASC or MyP&O.

The role functions in a fast paced retail environment that aims to provides an extraordinary M&M’s® experience to our guests. The store operates with different shifts during the day and night. The incumbent is a key member of the store’s leadership team and maintains constant interactions with the store associates, the P&O community and the MRG supports center in order to achieve results and drive positive change.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

 

1. Education & Professional Qualification

 High school diploma required

 College degree preferred

 HR training/certification PHR desired

2. Knowledge/Experience

 2-5 years in a similar role as HR generalist, preferably in a fast paced retail or service environment. Experience in HR in manufacturing environments could be comparable.

 Effectively worked as part of team and successfully achieved results

 Experience handling a variety of complex associate relations issues

 Diverse career experiences (within and outside of HR) highly desirable
