£46,000 - £57,000 + 12% Bonus + £6k car allowance + Benefits
WALTHAM is the fundamental science centre for Mars Petcare and focuses on the nutrition and wellbeing of dogs, cats, horses, birds and fish, and their benefits to humans. The Science Engagement and Communication Team play a critical role in the centre’s operation, partnering with researchers to create inspiring communication content that tells the story of our science and the positive impact of our research. The team is multimedia focussed, working across video, print and online to deliver accessible and engaging science communications to multiple audiences. The team also plays a leading role in organising on-site visits and events, including a triennial international research conference.
The Scientific Content Manager, as a segment communications specialist, will meet the changing and growing demands of the business via creating, editing and optimising content for Corporate Affairs channels (internal and external), with a focus on high quality and globally relevant digital content for social media, in support of Mars Petcare Purpose.
In this role you will...
· Create a plan to collect and utilise data and other information sources to develop strategic content that targets the right stakeholders, aimed at converting visitors/followers into long-term, high-value customers/advocates.
· Build meaningful connections by writing and producing various types of shareable and scalable global scientific content (original text, images, video, HTML or info-graphics, whiteboard videos, animated GIFs, slide decks, etc) for targeted internal and external audiences and channels
· Create/maintain/optimize Mars Global Petcare social and digital media channels and drive alignment and connectivity between divisions and regional/market social media channels
· Provide expert help and ideas to revamp WALTHAM website, and ongoing maintenance and upkeep
· Help establish digital and social media capability across Petcare corporate affairs and support as needed divisional, local &/or regional teams on launch/acceleration of social media strategy
· Provide regular business updates outlining progress against key deliverables, performance, key opportunities and risks. With social media conversation being a leading indicator of consumer sentiment, this individual will also be responsible for reporting actionable insights back to the business.
· Monitor relevant social channels, responding within the agreed timeline to consumer inquiries and concerns as needed.
· Assist with the timely resolution of escalated social media issues, researching responses and working with cross-functional partners as necessary
· Strengthen awareness and reputation of Mars Petcare science through competitive research, platform evaluation, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
· Devise a plan to engage divisions, regions and markets on ways to continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
· Input into and maintain editorial calendars as required.
ABOUT YOU
Essential: Bachelor's degree or similar in Public Relations, Marketing/Business or Science/ Technology.
Experience
· Essential to have 3-5 years’ experience successfully working in social media, digital and/or graphic design in a communications or marketing function (in-house or agency) or similar
· Experience in creation of engaging and relevant content for Corporate Affairs and/or marketing channels, ideally at a global level
· Expert in SEO and generation of relevant traffic
· Proven knowledge about web design and web development
· Proven knowledge of traditional media
· Excellent writing and editing (photo/video) skills
· Proven corporate and personal social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
· Practices breakthrough thinking/ Innovation Management
· Creates collaborative relationships
· Excellent communication skills
· Fluent in speaking and writing in English
