Royal Canin, a Mars Petcare company is looking for General Accounting Specialist in St. Charles, MO

Purpose of Role:

The General Accounting Specialist – Payroll/Benefits role is a member of the Royal Canin US Controller’s Group. The primary responsibilities of the function provide timely and accurate reporting of financial results and analysis of accounting activities through the knowledge and application of Mars accounting policies and principles, US GAAP, applicable local government regulations and Mars transaction-processing system(s) to meet the Golden Process requirements. This role is accountable to the Financial Controller for coordinating and analyzing accounting activities specifically as it relates to payroll and benefits. This includes managing the flow of payroll and benefits General Ledger activities in order to accomplish a 1.5-day period-close while ensuring that all activities within overheads are compliant with the Finance Manual. This position will have transactional responsibility in all systems that affect the accounting areas for Royal Canin US.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Accounting and Control Processes:
·  Accountability to the Financial Controller for completing work activities to comply with necessary financial activities related to overheads, general accounting and period closing process
·  Ensure accuracy of financial results through integrity of financial systems, accurate accruals, working assigned tasks during the period close process, and validating sub-ledgers balance accuracy
·  Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for the Financial Controller’s approval
·  Provide input into the improvement of business processes within the Controller’s Group and create/update documentation as needed
·  Work closely with the Overheads Manager on sensitive payroll reporting and creating period end accruals
·  Assist in the process of securing a controlled finance environment
·  Support Financial Operations:
·  Provide support in carrying out the direction of the Financial Controller
·  Assist in ensuring an adequate internal control environment as well as make recommendations regarding improvements of internal controls
·  Perform complex ad hoc financial analysis as required
·  Make process improvement recommendations to the Financial Controller
·  Other Responsibilities:
·  Thorough understanding of general accounting roles and efforts required to reach objectives
·  Participate in continuous training to develop and raise competency levels

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

·  Minimum of 2 years of experience in General Accounting
·  Financial Controls
·  US GAAP knowledge
·  General Accounting
·  Essential financial processes
·  Strong Excels skills
·  Must have excellent Microsoft Office skills
·  Financial Controls & Statutory Accounting - Basic understanding of Accounting Theory, practice and application
·  The ability to develop improvement in business processes and practices
·  High attention to detail
·  Strong communication skills – both verbal and written

Education Requirements:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
