You’ll gain skills, experience and confidence through a mixture of placements, college and on the job training. Working alongside our most experienced and skilled engineers to turn ideas in to living breathing solutions and play a vital part in maintaining and improving our world class production plant.
What is the Apprenticeship?
This apprenticeship scheme is a hands-on multi-skilled Mechanical or Electrical Pathway and is a development role to become part of the engineering team based on shift or days.
he first year is spent day release an engineering training centre and college studying towards a level 2 certificate in Performing Engineering Operations and a BTEC level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
During the second year you will attend work and have day release to college to complete your study in your BTEC, and start level 3 NVQ in “Engineering Maintenance in the Work Place”.
In your third and fourth years you will continue to study through day release but at HNC level at college on day release focussing on an electrical or mechanical pathway while finishing off your NVQ in the workplace. At the same time you will be spending your time working with our highly skilled associates on site.
Note:- Due to the introduction of the new Apprenticeship standards this year, some of the previous qualifications may change.
This apprenticeship will not only develop you technically but also introduce you to the importance of people and employability skills ready for your future. This is the first step on your career pathway at Mars Petcare and opens up a world of opportunities.
What do you need to apply?
You need to have a passion for engineering with motivation to learn new processes and techniques, and have achieved 5 GCSEs with a minimum B (Grade 5 -6) in Maths and A-C (Grade 4 - 9) in Science and English.
