We are seeking an Associate Engineer Packaging Development DS2 for our Mars Wrigley segment located at the Global Innovation Center.
The Associate Engineer Packaging Development is important within the Delivery System 2 organization. It is responsible for assisting in the development, design and translation of “value added” Packaging innovations for the growth of favorites, enhanced favorites and the adjacency areas. It is the responsibility of the jobholder, working with the global R&D teams, Marketing, CMI, Commercial and Regional teams to assist in the development of New Packaging from concept to finished Packaging specifications. The jobholder will have input into the Packaging for all products, as well as responsibility for assisting the development of the detailed Packaging specification of the any new Packaging for the global DS2. This role will be part of a team that will provide deep technical Packaging understanding and will consult with Marketing, CMI, and the Science and Technology team to develop insights to drive innovation. The incumbent will be responsible for Packaging development activities and is accountable for the execution of the allocated projects.
This position requires technical knowhow to execute a number of projects, looking at new perspectives to solve existing and new Packaging solutions. As a global Associate Engineer Packaging Development, this role may work in all product categories, based on the needs of the business.
The Associate Engineer Packaging Development DS2 possess a solid drive for results, good project management skills, a creative and entrepreneurial growth mindset, and an ability to create strong networks and relationships to drive the innovation agenda. They work both independently and with guidance to deliver relevant innovation and will work effectively with cross functional teams to drive projects to execution.
What would your key responsibilities be?
· Responsible for delivering Packaging development activities and is accountable for the execution of the allocated programs to bring project through to commercialization.
· Maintains and implements Global Packaging Standards and Innovations for all DS2 Innovation areas.
· Ensures that the Packaging development designs deliver products to meet the brands KQA’s.
· Role supports Global Factory Innovation and Engineering in implementing, Innovating and optimizing current packaging platforms.
· Ensures that the Packaging development is carried out such that timelines are met to market products.
· Ensures that the Packaging specifications are as accurate as possible to ensure correct costing.
· Ensures that Packaging quality and Manufacturing performance measures and corrective actions are specified for each new and current Pack to ensure performance at the required level for all manufactured products.
· Works within cross-functional teams to ensure that design thinking way of working are used within the projects and programs they are accountable for.
· Consults with the Technology teams to help to deliver the required technology.
· Remains abreast of new developments in food technologies, packaging, design, category trends and related fields.
· Connects with peers in other R&D functions and DS1 associates to share best practices, and helps to accelerate the global deployment of new innovations.
· Initiates and coordinates trials with the Factory innovation team for Commissioning, Validation and Start-up planning and execution.
· Assists in the Development of standards in close cooperation with Engineering, Supply, Q&FS, Suppliers and Universities.
· Global travel will be required to factories as well as key markets.
What are we looking for?
· Bachelor of Science or degree equivalent in engineering, chemical engineering or a technical area including chemistry, or food science is required.
· Project management skills.
· 0-4 years experience in a relevant field.
· Experience working in a kitchen, lab or pilot plant.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, and learning agility.
· Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
