Job Purpose :
The Associate Continuous Improvement Engineer drives continuous improvement in plant performance by interfacing with the associates on the floor and plant leadership to identify opportunities, build business plans to justify changes, and execute projects involving people and machines.
Context and Scope:
The Associate CI Engineer functions as a manufacturing site lead for the problem-solving process to achieve continuous improvements. They lead complex projects while mentoring Area Leads and Operators as they work to implement less complex initiatives. The CI Engineer will partner with the site Lean Engineer, Production Manager, and Technical Manager to develop and execute the overall site CI portfolio. The CI Engineer is also responsible for driving plant performance as measured by KPIs as assigned. They will facilitate this change by leading cross functional teams made up of associates from all levels in the organization with the goal of empowering shop floor associates to control their environment. Projects and KPIs assigned will reach into all areas of the plant and vary over time.
Key Responsibilities:
· Actively participate developing a culture in which safety is a clear value demonstrated in the team's actions and decisions. Accomplished by role modeling behavior-based safety, complete follow through on incidents with urgency, and allowing no deviations to the standards.
· Uphold the Mars Quality Principle when interacting with others and working on any operational system.
· Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI) by utilizing Lean Principles to analyze systems and create action plans to improve them.
· Deliver tangible savings from continuous improvement projects with typical savings of $400,000+/yr.
· Utilize data analysis, line trials, and Lean Principles to develop Standard Running Conditions (SRC's) for both existing and new equipment installations to ensure optimal quality and efficiency of Plant assets while maintaining human safety.
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relted scientific/technical discipline is required
· General knowledge of engineering problem solving and process development methodologies
· Experience utilizing scientific principles and disciplined problem solving to develop and improve manufacturing process.
· Ability to collaborate in a cross functional environment with many partners.
· Strong communication, listening, and influencing skills
· Strong critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous manufacturing scale-up experience preferred
· Six Sigma Green Belt preferred or TPM (Total Productive Manufacturing)
