JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Tax Systems Accountant – Europe will be the management of Marriott's compliance for primarily the Indirect Tax accounting and reporting requirements for Marriott entities in Europe. He/she will work closely with the Sub Ledgers team, other project team members, above property associates and Marriott Business Services (MBS) associates to deliver integrated, automated, reliable tax returns, reconciliations and reporting solutions across the Marriott suite of PeopleSoft Financials applications.
Effort will include working with business and technical team to define requirements, develop appropriate designs, and define valid values for MBS to enter into Accounts Payable (“AP”), Accounts Receivable (“OFB”) and General Ledger (“MIGL”) applications, validating entry and testing solutions.

In addition to the primary activities focused on configuration and conversion, this position will also provide overall application expertise and assist with general business and process design, system testing and change management support to include training, deployment and post production activities.

Additionally, he/she will collaborate with the Continent Finance team to implement strategies, processes and/or tools, as appropriate, to manage the tax financial impact to the company (i.e., minimising fines and penalties; maximising relief/recovery). He/she will establish and maintain strong relationships with the Global Tax and Europe Finance teams to help effectively address business issue.

SCOPE/BUSINESS CONTEXT/EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
· Creation of system driven processes for Tax accounting and reporting. Includes managing and designing PeopleSoft enhancement with system business partners for compliance.
· Support the management and execution of activities designed to ensure Marriott's compliance with European Tax accounting and reporting requirements.
· Continued review of Marriott systems to ensure Tax automation compliance
· Management of system configuration and data for key reporting to Global Tax, Europe Finance and/or other Global Finance groups.
· Reviews, updates and supports Marriott's systems in regards to the application of VAT.
· Identifies and makes recommendations to optimise Tax compliance processes.
· Manage the systems implementation of “Making Tax Digital” for all taxes across Europe.
· Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications :

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience
·  Minimum of 2 years of UK and/or German Tax experience required; GAAP accounting experience preferred.
·  Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of systems and databases.
·  History of consistently delivering business results in a complex, service-intensive, deadline-driven environment a plus
·  Proven experience in a multi-tasked environment.
·  Comprehensive understanding of VAT accounting and working within a General Ledger.
·  Understanding of Withholding Tax and Corporate Income Tax is an advantage.
Education or Certification
·  Recognised accounting or computing systems qualification
·  Fluency (oral and written) in English required. Additional European language/s desirable.
·  Advanced computer skills including Excel.

·  The position may involve travelling and overnight stays as appropriate to cover responsibilities
·  Working hours are as required to do your job but normally not less than 40 hours per week. This may involve some weekend work.
