POSITION SUMMARY

Laundry-Linen Storekeeper (Hourly)

Process all soiled hotel bed linens, terry and food and beverage table linens by operating heavy load machine (washer 480 lbs. / Dryer 500 lbs. / Dry cleaning machinery in accordance to hotel's standards.  Clean, press and finish staff and guest garments, as well as designated guest room fabrics and articles. Responsible for sorting/folding towels and linens, operating various presser machines to finalize guest items and employee uniforms in a timely, efficient and safe manner.  The Laundry Attendant may assist and receive, unload, and process deliveries.  Verify and track received inventory and complete inventory reports and logs. Work with suppliers to resolve discrepancies between invoices and actual received merchandise.  Conduct inventory audits to determine inventory levels and needs. Inspect deliveries and date times to verify freshness, cleanliness, consistency, and quality throughout case lots. Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous laundry experience preferred should have knowledge of dry-cleaning equipment, chemical handling, and finishing techniques for all types of fabrics. 

Must have the ability to exert physical effort in the movement of bundles of soiled/cleaned bed linens into/out of laundry machines (able to lift 50 lbs.)

Enjoy working with a team in high temperatures and a fast-paced environment. 

Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing 

Excellent Customer Service skills

Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service 

Receiving all housekeeping items and verifying quantity received with quantity invoiced. 

Filling and maintaining the required inventory levels while keeping storage area clean and up to fire safety codes

Assist with the room turn and various other department requests when necessary

Able to reach, bend, twist, pull, and stoop; grasp, turn, and manipulate objects

Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps; move, lift, or carry objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds.

Able to work with a minimum supervision

 

OTHER KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·  Removing garbage, stripping linen and assist in bed making in heavy turn around days. 
·  Sort linen by kind (terry and flatwork pieces). 
·  Filling and sanitizing re-usable bathroom amenities
·  Packing closets with linen according to par levels previously set. 
·  Distribute linen and other items to housekeeping pantries. Maintain line pantries clean and organized. 
·  Perform general cleaning of all guestroom surfaces to include tub, wall tile, hard floors, walls, windows, mirrors
·  Vacuum/mop sweep/damp mop/spot clean/spray buffing of floor surfaces, using machinery as required.
·  High and low dust (including skirting boards/window ledges/curtain rails/notice boards/picture frames/furniture/doors and door stays)
·  Vacuum carpeted areas, daily removal of spots or stains, and shampooing of carpets using machinery on housekeeping supervisor instruction.
·  Damp clean all telephones.
·  Flipping Inspecting and steam cleaning mattress and other upholster goods. 
·  Clean baths, showers, and sinks, polish all chromium fittings.
·  Assist with curtain changing and upholstery cleaning. 
·  Waxing, stripping and buffing all assigned floors. 
·  Polishing floors and carpet extraction. 



 

Shift varies and may include overnight shift. Ideal Candidate must have:

·  Previous experience in Housekeeping industrial cleaning. 
·  Previous experience in stone, hardwood floors and carpet care treatment.
·  Ability to lift 80 pounds, pull, and push heavy objects.   
·  Flexibility on the schedule and able to work different shifts, including overnight when required. 
·  Knowledge of proper chemical handling. 
·  Prior guest relations training. 
·  High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.
