Job Purpose: Two to three sentences describing the overall purpose of the job

Clean and sanitize all food service and preparation ware. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the dish rooms and kitchen areas.

Job Responsibilities: Maximum of ten responsibilities, in order of percentage of time spent on functions from longest to shortest; do not list anything that does not represent at least 10% of the job’s time. Please include supervisory responsibilities.

1.

Operate all ware-washing machinery.

 

2.

Ensure that all food service and preparation ware is clean and sanitized.

 

3.

Scrape and spray all food service ware before it enters the ware-washing machine.

4.

Rack all china and glassware properly according to type and size to avoid breakage.

5.

Separate all food service ware and store properly in designated areas.

 

6.

Keep ware-washing area clean and safe. Clean work area, drains, and machinery properly at the end of each shift.

7.

Keep ware-washing machinery clean and report any problems with machinery to supervisor.

8.

Assist in other areas such as setup, silver burnishing, floor porter, and food running as needed.

9.

May assist in plating for banquet functions and storing food requisitions.

 

10.

Perform special cleaning projects in kitchen areas as assigned.

 

11.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications: Describe the minimum qualifications needed to complete the job responsibilities.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

No prior experience required. Communication skills required for guest and staff interactions.

Licenses/Certifications

Food Handler’s Card may be required.

Customarily and regularly direct the work of at least 2 or more full-time STARS or their equivalent (1 full-time STAR at 40 and 2 half-time STARS at 20 hours each , are equivalent to 2 full-time STARS).

 

Authority to hire or fire other STARS, or makes suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing , advancement, promotion or any other change of status of other employees are given particular weight.
