The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc.  The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment.  If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

Job Description

·  Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles. 
·  Answer guest questions or concerns regarding the origin, vintage, and style of various wines. 
·  Update and maintain wine list and MICROS system. 
·  Pair and suggest wines that will best complement menu items. 
·  Attend wine tastings and develop relationships with vendors. 
·  Request new wines and products. 
·  Create and update wine lists. 
·  Design and implement wine promotions and incentive programs. 
·  Monitor and replenish inventory of wine cellar, equipment, and glassware. 
·  Train and educate server and bartender staff. 
·  Conduct vintage and BIN number checks. 
·  Conduct staff wine tastings. 
·  Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas. 
·  Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly. Maintain accurate spill sheet.

Job Requirements:

– Fluency, (B2 level) verbal and written, in Spanish and English are mandatory for this position
– Legal work permit to work in Spain is mandatory
– At least 2 years in the position, preferably in high-end restaurants or luxury brand hotels
– Extensive knowledge of wine regions, grape varietals, wine production methods, and wine pairing principles
– Experience assessing and describing wines accurately, considering factors such as aroma, flavour, and body
– Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests, understand their preferences and personalise recommendations
– Knowledge of food and beverage trends, and the ability to create innovative wine pairings
– Experience training non-experts to set good foundations among the F&B teams
– WSET certification preferred, not mandatory
