POSITION SUMMARY
As the Lead Barista/Senior Barista, the individual is integral to the operational success of the coffee shop, responsible for delivering a high-quality experience for guests while simultaneously fulfilling more advanced barista duties. This role encompasses executing day-to-day activities such as opening and closing the café, which includes setting up and maintaining workstations, preparing equipment, managing inventory levels, and securing cash banks to ensure financial accountability. The Lead Barista also assists in fostering a collaborative team environment by mentoring junior staff and promoting a culture of motivation and customer service excellence.
In this position, proactive engagement with customers is paramount; hence, anticipating needs, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues are key functions while creating a welcoming atmosphere. The Lead Barista ensures compliance with all health, safety, and company policies, effectively communicating these standards among team members. Maintaining the highest beverage quality involves utilizing best practices in coffee preparation while strictly adhering to regulatory guidelines and ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
Furthermore, the responsibilities include implementing cash handling procedures, accurately processing transactions through the POS system, and participating in end-of-shift cash reconciliation to address any discrepancies. A polished professional appearance and demeanor are essential, as the Lead Barista serves as a role model for the brand’s values and service standards. This position demands excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the physical stamina to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Contributing significantly to the coffee shop's success involves nurturing a positive team dynamic, enhancing overall customer satisfaction, and upholding product excellence, which is essential for building loyal patronage and sustaining a thriving business. A genuine passion for coffee and a commitment to exceptional service are key factors in shaping the customer experience and achieving operational goals. Additionally, the Lead Barista is expected to perform other reasonable duties as directed by supervisors to support overall store management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma/G.E.D. equivalent
Related Work Experience: At least 1 year of related work experience.
Previous experience as a barista or in a similar food and beverage role, ideally in a high-paced coffee shop or café environment.
Proficiency in coffee brewing techniques, including espresso extraction, milk frothing, and knowledge of various brewing methods (e.g., pour-over, French press).
Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required
