JOB SUMMARY
Position acts as the "Supervisor" for the Johannesburg Regional Office and works with the office services associate to ensure that the office daily operation runs smoothly including, reception, meetings, stationery, food & beverage requirements, car parking and health & safety requirements.
The HR Generalist will assist the office management and leadership team in addressing and resolving HR issues. Key responsibilities include supporting employees with internal and external transfer requests, assisting managers with the hiring process, and maintaining applicant and personnel files in the HR system. The role also involves ensuring compliance with legal requirements, supporting payroll processes, and generating HR data reports. The HR Generalist will train new hires on HR policies and systems, maintain confidential employee records, and foster positive working relationships within the team. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
· Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma is a prerequisite.
· At least 1 year of related work experience.
· Previous experience within a hotel HR as a Co-Coordinator / Administrator / Generalist and ideally in Marriott is essential.
· Ideally hands on working knowledge of Marriott HR Systems and Processes including mHub, ES Reporting System, HR & Payroll systems knowledge, handling labour turnover and other similar HR reports;
· Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint (including spreadsheet creation and validation) essential.
· Must have excellent spoken and written business English language comprehension and accurate speed typing with excellent spelling and grammar.
Core Work Activities
· Recruitment & Onboarding :
· Assist with job postings and providing Talent Acquisition with equity preference, comp and benefit information etc.
· Drafting employment contracts
· Coordinate new hire paperwork, orientations, and training programs.
· Assist with coordination and facilitation of new hire orientation program, to generate a positive first impression for associates and emphasize the importance of guest service in the Marriott Culture; ensures attendance by all new hires and participation of the leadership team.
· Compensation & Benefits:
· Support processing and maintenance of payroll records in accordance with policies and procedures, as necessary.
· Assist with benefit enrollment, updates, and claims processing.
· Preparing associate exit documents: unemployment documents, certificates of service, medical aid forms, retirement funding withdrawal
· Answer employee inquiries regarding benefits, payroll, and other HR-related concerns
· Employee Records & Documentation :
· Maintain up-to-date employee files, records, and databases.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies regarding documentation and data management.
· Employee Relations :
· Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
· Help organize employee engagement and wellness programs.
· Assist with resolving employee issues or concerns, ensuring a positive work environment.
· Reviews progressive discipline documentation for accuracy and consistency
· Ensures exit interviews are conducted on all voluntary separations, tracks results and shares information as needed
· HR Policy & Compliance :
· Ensure HR practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
· Support HR Manager in audits and compliance reporting.
· Administrative Support :
· Prepare HR-related reports and documents as needed.
· Assist in the preparation and communication of internal memos, announcements, and policies.
Other:
· Oversees the office services team to ensure the hygiene, safety & security of the offices, meeting rooms and public areas. Also ensures appropriate stock and inventory levels (ie stationary).
· Arrange temporary staff as/ when deemed necessary.
· Communicates performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions for each position.
