JOB SUMMARY
This role is responsible for proactively identifying and soliciting golf opportunities for the Country Club Cluster. This person is the cluster sales expert in golf.
The Golf Sales Manager – Hotel and Country Club Cluster actively retains golf related business and supports the UK wide sales teams to convert golf, group and catering opportunities.
Promotes and enhances the awareness of Marriott golf and its position in the golf market.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Experience
· Minimum 2 years proactive sales experience.
· Relevant golf and or leisure sales market
Education or Certification
· High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
· Proven Sales background
· Experienced golfer. Ideally official handicap less than 12 however will consider higher handicaps
· Extensive golf knowledge
· Familiar with Marriott reservation and golf systems

Sales and Marketing
· Builds contacts and relationships with companies and golf groups
· Builds contacts and relationships with national companies for large group and event business
· Secures repeat business across properties
· Actively refers group business
· Builds brand awareness of Marriott Golf
· Sells National Corporate and Local Corporate Golf Memberships
· Works in conjunction with UK Sales Team to secure golf business
· Develops new channels of business within the UK and overseas
· Sets out a calendar of activity, implements to time and to standard and measures and reviews results.
· Understands the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses of each comp set , economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them
· Creates and implements innovative ways of building golf business
· Supports the sales team to develop and deliver a thorough sales and marketing plan for golf. Maximising existing business and sourcing new markets
· Provides golf specific sales training for relevant events teams as required
· Works with Cluster Team to create golf appropriate sales collateral and marketing materials, leveraging available eTools and Brand guidelines.
· Acts as customer liaison with hotel during major customer event/ golf days ensuring daily needs are met and overall customer satisfaction
· Leading presence at all golf trade shows
· Displays leadership in guest hospitality; exemplifies customer service and creates a positive example for guest relations.
· Effectively resolves guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process. Brings issues to the attention of property leadership team as appropriate.
