This is a temporary position. 

Contract Technical Writer – Infrastructure Engineering Documentation

We are seeking a Technical Writer to join our team on a contract basis to develop high-quality, engineer-facing user documentation for our Infrastructure organization. This role is critical in ensuring our application teams have clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation to navigate our platform and services effectively.

Key Responsibilities

·  Develop, structure, and maintain technical documentation for engineers and application teams, ensuring clarity and usability.
·  Conduct value stream mapping exercises to understand end-to-end workflows and identify documentation gaps.
·  Engage with platform engineers, infrastructure teams, and application teams to extract and synthesize knowledge from various sources.
·  Develop user-focused guides, API documentation, runbooks, FAQs, and best practices tailored to engineering teams.
·  Ensure consistency and alignment across multiple documentation sources, making it easy for users to find and apply information.
·  Advocate for a user-experience-first approach to documentation, ensuring it is intuitive, well-structured, and actionable.

Qualifications

·  Proven experience in technical writing for engineering or infrastructure teams.
·  Familiarity with value stream mapping and user journey analysis to enhance documentation effectiveness.
·  Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and structured content.
·  Experience documenting cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, DevOps tools, or platform engineering workflows is highly preferred.
·  Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Markdown, Docusaurus, GitHub, MkDocs, or similar.
·  Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and technical stakeholders.

 

The pay range for this position is $40.81 to $69.62 per hour.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
