ABOUT THIS PROPERTY

The Sheraton Nouakchott Hotel will be the first internationally-branded hotel in the Mauritanian capital.  the hotel featuring 174 guest rooms and 26 suites will be located in the central business district of Nouakchott, just four kilometers from the International Airport.  The modern hotel is designed with Mauritanian-style architecture and features an all-day dining restaurant and a specialty restaurant, a bar, an outdoor pool as well as more than 1,500 square meters of meeting space.  

ABOUT THE POSITION 

The ideal candidate for this position has extensive experience in luxury brands in a Director of Engineering position and is fluent in French and English.  Ideally you would have prior experience in leading a hotel opening or major renovation/conversion.  You will provide a high level of property maintenance knowledge as your position has overall responsibility for maintaining the building, grounds and physical plant with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. You will be held accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. You will have an opportunity to develop and implement strategies that will deliver products and services, which meet or exceed the needs and expectations of guests and employees while maximizing the financial performance. You will be responsible for maintaining standards and regulatory requirements and leading the emergency response team for all facility issues.

This is what your day looks like:

·  Especially in the opening phase, you overlook the construction progress and already get involved here
·  You are responsible for the maintenance of the entire hotel facility, including the physical building structure, the FF&E and other facilities
·  They monitor energy consumption and check and ensure all maintenance in cooperation with service providers and contractual partners
·  Ensuring the safety of guests and employees of the hotel, in particular as a competent contact person with regard to Fire & Life Safety, as well as evacuation and safety issues including regular training
·  Compliance with all safety regulations, as well as group and hotel policies are just as much a matter of course for you as an extraordinarily guest-oriented appearance of your department
·  As a department head of a team, you keep track of the duty scheduling and development of your employees

This is what we want from you:

·  You have extensive knowledge of mechanical systems such as chillers, water treatment and cooling systems of all kinds
·  You have completed vocational training in the technical field, ideally you have a master craftsman's certificate in your specialist area
·  You already have several years of experience in a similar position in a large hotel, hospital or similarly used buildings
·  You already have experience in budget preparation and budget analysis and understand how to act cost-consciously
·  You have extensive knowledge of occupational safety, preferably you are already a trained safety guard
·  You have good communication skills in French, ideally also in English (spoken and written)
·  You are a committed leader and have excellent team leader skills and thus know how to motivate your employees
