Qualifications :

Position Purpose:

This position has responsibility for proactively developing outside catering business to maximize revenue and ensure, at a minimum, delivery of budgeted revenues. The Business Development Executive OSC must be a self-motivated individual and focus on providing consistently high levels of customer service.

Provide complete, professional, informative and efficient presentations and services to all prospective clients, while developing strong bonds of loyalty and excellent guest contact skills. This will include maintenance of updated company profiles in Opera Sales & Catering, face to face interviews with clients, negotiating rates/contracts and closing deals within parameters established by the DOS. Carry out promotional activity, site inspections, mailings and incentives, participate in sales blitzes, workshops as appropriate.

Essential Functions:

·  The Business Development Executive OSC is accountable for Outside Catering Business on an established account base consisting primarily of Key Accounts, Key prospects and Other Active Files. The account base will cover mainly Government Organizations, embassies/consulates/trade offices, local trading companies, banks, multinational companies, sports federations, royal families, HNI's as well as some Convention Centers.
·  Conduct a minimum of 5 sales calls per day
·  Initiate action plans for developing Key Prospects and new business opportunities
·  Profile and action leads which fall within the local market and develop action plans for achievement of OSC revenue goals.
·  Carry out focused and innovate promotional activity e.g. site inspections, mailings and incentives, participate in sales blitzes, trade shows, workshops and sales trips as appropriate.
·  Maintain, prepare and update individual sales calls reports on daily basis.
·  Maintain updated customer profiles/action plans
·  Answer all customer correspondence within 12-hrs.
·  Regularly entertain during Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner at least 2 clients per week.
·  Regularly conduct site inspection of prospective clients at least 3 per week.
·  Achieve OSC revenue targets as set by the Hotel Manager and DOS
·  Enroll clients & guests in Marriott Loyalty programs.
·  Update all reports required by the hotel in a timely manner.
·  Be fully knowledgeable regarding the property, ongoing promotions & upgrades
·  Evaluate prospective client's overall requirements, check for competitor hotels used and evaluate the client's approximate business potential for our hotel.
·  Following-up on all commitments made to a client in a timely manner and with all the details and services promised.
·  After closing a deal, take personal responsibility for the delivery of superior guest service through meticulous follow-up, ensuring that the client is satisfied and that service standards have been met.

Supportive Functions (Property specific):

·  Responsible for helping sales coordinator to maintain mailing lists, updated on a monthly basis
·  Responsible to coordinate with Events team to ensure all the necessary information has been provided for a smooth operation.
·  Maintain a record of other hotels newsletters, rack rates and any other collateral material.
·  Maintain order in the filing system of the Sales office and update files on a regular basis.
·  Maintain liaison with all Department Heads to ensure that the best service is provided to clients.
·  Provide market intelligence/information of the other competitor hotels and be fully knowledgeable of competitor's weaknesses/strengths; and at the same time maintain confidentiality of this hotel's activities, targets and rate structures.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Property specific):

·  Give no. 1 priority to the client over all activities
·  Practice Marriott service standards at all times
·  To be a self-starter, be flexible and work with and through other departments in an amiable and in good team spirit.
·  Maintain a neat, tidy and professional appearance
·  Co-operate in ensuring that the Sales Office is kept tidy and all office equipment is in good working condition
·  Be sensitive and aware to the multi-cultural/religious environment and local customs; e.g. eating habits during the Holy Month of Ramadan
·  Comply with all rules, policies and practices of the hotel as stipulated in the Staff handbook and Corporate Code of Conduct.


Qualification Standards (Property specific)

·  Proven sales professional with a minimum of 2 years direct sales experience within a premium sales organization
·  Passionately driven towards revenue goals
·  Excellent standards of personal presentation.
·  Understanding of Opera Sales & Catering program would be an advantage
·  Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Arabic language preferred
·  Must possess basic computational ability.
·  Must possess basic computer skills.
·  Must have a working knowledge of types of cuisines and menu knowledge.
·  Must have excellent interpersonal and sales-related skills.
·  Must have exceptional organizational, supervisory skills.
·  Must be able to prepare and analyze data and figures, and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer.
