JOB SUMMARY

The Area Director of Engineering & Facilities provides functional Engineering & Facilities leadership and expertise regarding facilities management, sustainability, discipline technology platforms, capex planning / execution and energy conservation for all managed Marriott Hotel brands within their assigned Area.

Provides Area leadership to maximize assets, drive guest satisfaction, support business performance and enhance the brands. Additionally, he or she provides strategic direction to the GM's, their Facility Engineers, Cluster Engineers, Chief Engineers, Directors of Engineering, and to the Area /Market Vice Presidents to ensure effective delivery of results, execution of initiatives and to identify talent in their Area. As a business partner to the Area Directors, Area / Market Vice Presidents and CLS team, the position provides an Engineering & Facilities perspective to help make optimal business decisions as well as helps sets overall direction to ensure that Area practices are aligned with continent, business, and brand strategies.

This leadership role has overall responsibility for managing and implementing the engineering strategy for their Area. It defines and presents opportunities for operational improvement, evaluates risks, works within area of expertise to provide effective solutions, and implements systems and processes that leverage and support enterprise strategies to maximize guest satisfaction and engineering performance. This individual works in a complex matrix environment and balances the sometimes-diverging expectations of the property, the brand, and the Engineering discipline.

The Area Director of Engineering & Facilities provides support / is responsible for (e.g. number of different properties, total number of rooms):

Location requirements: The Area Director of Engineering & Facilities is to be located at the Eschborn office.

Language Requirements: High proficiency (speaking, reading and writing) in English is required.

Travel Requirements: There is a 60-80% business travel required.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

CANDIDATE PROFILE

REQUIRED:

· 10+ years of hotel facilities management experience including a minimum of two years' experience at Director of Engineering level or comparable position. Across a minimum of two different properties and brands

· In-depth knowledge of all discipline technology platforms including Transcendent in order to comply with Engineering SOPs.

· In-depth knowledge of MEP, Building Fabric and Life Safety Systems.

· Experience of hotel openings and conversions preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

· High proficiency (speaking, reading and writing) in English is required

· Ability to write clear and concise reports

· Understands how to manage in a culturally diverse work environment

· Effective public speaking and presentation skills

· Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION:

· College degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Construction preferred, or equivalent/related work experience
