Working in the Record to Report function in a fast-moving shared service environment where passion, creativity and excellence are key. This role will span across multiple areas in the wider team, giving vast insight into the M&S business. The successful candidate will be working as part of a high performing team where career progression and growth is encouraged. The Finance Analyst will be supporting the day-to-day management of the financial processes for C&H & Foods to help manage delivery of an accurate month end position. They will provide ongoing support to meet month end deadlines and providing insightful analysis to the Finance teams in London

About the role - Your key accountabilities will include:

• Working closely with our London finance teams to ensure we meet our month end deliverables

• Production of monthly reports to the business relating to C&H & Foods business areas

• Working closely with the C&H, Food, Logistics & op ex shared service teams, getting involved in several key areas as the team’s workload expands

• Managing accruals, prepayments and provisions, providing insightful financial analysis and advice to improve commercial decision making to the London team.

• Ensure that all Balance Sheet accounts are fully understood, reconciled each month and are formally supported by independent data sources in line with M&S standards

• Responsible for internal and external audit requests across functional areas.

• Support operational projects with regular engagement and solutions to deliver a positive outcome

• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and solid knowledge of fundamental accounting principles are essential.

• Develop a continuous improvement culture within the team to ensure that the service is being delivered in the most effective way.

• Leading and directing key meetings with stakeholders where relevant.

• Ensure a strong financial control environment is maintained

• Build strong relationships with key business partners, managing regular dialogue to continue to drive improved performance, both within London Finance and the wider Business Service Center

About you - Your skills and experience will include

• An Accounting background, part qualified CIMA / ACCA qualification

• Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to challenge operational managers and translate operational efficiency into financial impact

• Strong ability to resolve complex issues

• Ability to provide credible support to non-financial managers within the business.

• Good IT knowledge and literacy – knowledge of SAP preferable, strong Excel skills, Power BI desirable but not essential

• Must be comfortable comparing high volumes of data in different systems and providing insight from this.

• The ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritise workload with a flexible & proactive approach is crucial

• Understanding of SLA’s and KPI frameworks

• Excellent numerical and analytical skills

• Strong accounting skills with previous experience of working in a fast-paced environment
