Job description
Job title: Translator and Project Coordinator (translation)
Preferred language skills: French, Spanish and/or Italian
Start: Immediately OR Very soon
Working hours: 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Viglen House Business Centre, Alperton Lane, London HA0 1HD
Working environment: Working from an office in a business centre. The company is very small, 2 years old (a start-up). The new employee will be working with one person in the company’s office.

We are small, new and growing translation company based in west London. We are looking to employ a candidate with strong business skills and languages background. The successful candidate will be working with one member of staff in the company office. The new employee will have the opportunity to develop and build a career while the company growing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clients’ Relationship Management
- Handling clients’ queries, complaints and offer the best solution (in person, by telephone and email). Maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Dealing with cost estimation and quotes, when required.
- Obtain order confirmation, approval and instructions from the client to act.
- Analysis the client project specification, negotiating prices, tasks, deadlines and specific deliverables.
- Translation & Project Management
- Translating and proofreading when/if required.
- Coordinating and overseeing all stages of translation projects.
- Analyse documentation, identifying language combinations and obtaining accurate word counts.
- Based on the client's requirements and the job's characteristics, calculate the time required to complete the work and confirm delivery dates as required.
- Monitoring the progress of projects and liaising with the in-house staff and translators to ensure deadlines are met.
- Dealing with translators queries and issues (including quality and payments).
- Enter job details into the job database and maintain up to date information.
- Contact the translators and ascertain whether they are available to meet the job deadline.
- Dealing with all aspects of the certification process (for certified translation) as well as preparing the translation for postage when required.
- Quality Control
- Check completed translations for sense, omissions, typos and numbers then correct where necessary.
- Liaise with translators to resolve any issues raised by the proof-checking.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Educated to a degree level - (Languages related degree would be an advantage).
- Working experience would be an advantage.
- Excellent level in English is essential.
- Knowledge of at least one European language is essential (French, Spanish and/or Italian).
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Attention to detail, Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge of translation memory would be an advantage, but not essential.
