PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To support the Dixon Squash and Cucumber Breeding Programs as well as aspects of daily breeding activities.

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Assist the Squash and Cucumber breeding programs in design of field trials, planting, and evaluation. Work alongside farm and greenhouse crews and collaborate closely with research staff including operations, research assistants.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Assist breeding programs in field trial design, planting, and trial evaluation
• Support data collection, data entry, and seed harvest operations
• Maintain and periodically update seed inventory
• Organize and pull seed for trials and shipments
• Assist with field and greenhouse crew in seeding, transplanting, crossing blocks, seed harvest and packaging
• Manage greenhouse projects including sowing, transplanting, and disease scouting
• Administer all plant labeling, pollinating instructions, and harvest
• Work closely with Greenhouse and Field operations management to ensure good plant health to meet desired goals
• Other duties as assigned
Miscellaneous:

• Reports to: Cucumber Research Associate
• Supervisory responsibilities: None
• Status: Non Exempt
• Internal relations: HM.CLAUSE R&D Division
• External relations: None
• Other indicators: Must be available to work 35-40 hours per week (1700 hours per year

• Basic English & Spanish speaking ability required
• Some field and/or greenhouse experience desirable
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions for long periods

Education & work experience required:

• Minimum High School Diploma, 1-3 years' experience desirable
• Some field and/or greenhouse experience desirable
