Responsibilities
The Summer Student will support manufacturing operations by providing assistance to other Production Technicians while maintaining environmental and sanitation standards according to cGMP guidelines to ensure that the facilities are kept clean to prevent contamination and cross-contamination of the department.
More specifically, the job responsibilities will include:
- Support Antigen production and freeze dried vaccines production according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and
Protocols.
- Environmental monitoring – viable and non-viable monitoring
- Prepare materials for production needs
- Organizing, labeling , wrapping and sterilization of materials
- Ensure equipment and materials are in state of readiness for production technicians
- Cleaning/disinfection of production areas and materials as outlined in specific SOPs
- Assist in Buffer peroration and other supporting activities related to down streaming process.
- Perform routine activities such as recording temperatures and room pressures, performing purified water sampling and
clean steam sampling.
- Assist the cross functional groups during final product fill.
- Support fermentation operator – cleaning fermenters and associated parts, set up/tear down of fermenters
- Preparation and modification of SOPs as required
- Complete other duties as necessary
Desired profile
Basic Qualifications
Students in a Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree program who have completed a minimum of two years within their program.
Preference given to Biotechnology or Biology Students.
Some experience or exposure to cGMP manufacturing environment and/or familiarity with cGMP procedures and protocols is considered an asset.
Additional Skills/Preferences
Must be able to wear clean room garments.
Must be able to read, write, understand, and comply with appropriate standard operating procedures.
Must be able to handle disinfectants (may require wearing of a respirator).
Must be able to lift, move and maneuver small-medium sized equipment.
Work to be performed outside of normal working hours including evenings and weekends when required.
