Packaging Optimization Line Efficiency Engineer (POLE)
Clark (Union) Design / Civil engineering / Industrial engineering
Job description
POSITION PURPOSE
· Responsible to help support Launch activity and drive Performance within our Contract Manufacturers as it pertains to Packaging materials and process for Full Service and Full Buy (L'Oreal designed components). To ensure that quality and performance KPI's are met for all new launches, through a solid review (risk assessment) of the packaging components/ formula/filling and packing elements.
· Be the champion for creation of Packaging IN and OUT and palettization plans in order to drive cost and waste optimization.
· To actively contribute to continuous improvements (Performance to include cost, waste minimization) through the standardization and optimization of components and processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
· Ensure good performance and efficiency between AC /Filling and packing equipment: participates in conception risk analysis between QCP and Pre-specs, facilitates filling and packing Risk Assessment with CM/Packaging/IQ/Supplier; manage Risk Assessment mitigation plan for closure; establish “manufacturing guidelines/CDC” per CM.
· Line Trial execution: Define with CM the tests to be conducted to prove technical feasibility - line trials including success criteria in term of quality, fill level, uptime…etc
· Defines Packaging-IN specifications guidelines in collaboration with Packaging engineer for AC: ergonomic considerations to support safety, handling for interaction with CM filling and packing equipment, validates g/per unit (by type of AC commodity), communicates with Packaging Engineer to ensure guidelines are followed and waste reduction target obtained.
· Initiate and organize all line trials: ensure AC availability for existing components, coordinate receipt of new AC with Packaging Engineer, schedule and attends Line trial and summarize results and action plan
· Defines and specifies all tertiary packaging (packaging-OUT): cello, packers, dividers, shippers, shipper labels…Ensure all terciary packaging are standardized as much as possible to drive efficiencies and cost down.
· Input shipper and palletization information for new MINDS tool.
· Defines optimum palettization plans, ensure Supply Chain constraints are taken into consideration and enters palettization specifications in SAP, ensure 100% accuracy between data entry and physical measurements.
· Consider End to End Supply Chain with design of tertiary packaging; work on Transportation optimization projects.
· Works with the CM and OMA IQ to establish defect range boards for finished goods: fill levels (min/max), panoplies of defects for Marketing approval (through Development)
· Manage all SKU transfers between factories (line trials, specifications changes) and with contract manufacturers, as well as change of production lines.
· Support Homologation and Packaging spec issue resolution – serve as main point of contact between CM and Packaging engineer
· Waste Minimization: Identify large drivers for material waste at our CM's and align with CM/PUR/PKG on action plan for reduction.
· Follow performance indicators linked to his function
· Will require up to 50% travel to various locations.
