Job Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Vice President, Corporate Counsel to join the Legal Department’s contracts group. This position will report to the Chief M&A Counsel, who oversees the Department’s contracts group. The attorney in this role will handle the drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements. The work is fast-paced and demanding and there is tremendous opportunity to learn and grow as an attorney.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Review, draft, negotiate and interpret a wide variety of commercial contracts the vendors, business partners and other third parties.
- Collaborate with other attorneys to develop and maintain templates, playbooks, contracting policies, negotiation practices and escalation procedures.
-Provide advice on legal and business risk and mitigation strategies.
- Identify and advise on risk and providing creative and effective mitigation solutions.
- Manage outside counsel on select projects.
Qualifications:
-JD from an ABA accredited law school and admitted and in good standing to practice in New York (this could include obtaining a license to practice in-house based on being a member of the bar of a state outside of New York).
- 5 or more years of commercial contracting experience with a law firm and/or internal legal department.
- Experience in a wide variety of contract drafting and negotiations.
- Consumer goods industry experience is preferred.
- Self-starter; ability to get things done without supervision.
