Position Summary

Canada's Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is one of the country's largest tax incentive programs. It is intended to create a supportive environment for Canadians to carry out research and development (R&D) and foster innovation. KPMG\u0027s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) group consists of multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, accountants, and tax experts. These teams assist our clients in obtaining SR&ED tax credits offered by both the federal and provincial governments.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

·  Keeping up-to-date with innovative technologies and trends in the world of science and engineering.
·  Working in a cross functional team environment to complete SR&ED claims for small, medium and large corporations.
·  Examining our clients\u0027 technology, products and operations to determine which R&D activities qualify for income tax incentives.
·  Effectively summarize the development activities of our clients' utilizing written reports and communication.
·  Planning, organizing and executing engagements on time and within budget.
·  Successfully developing and managing client relationships.
·  Developing an understanding of the SR&ED program and the ability to interpret legislation.
·  Support clients in scientific and financial reviews conducted by the Canada Revenue Agency.
·  At times, business needs arise and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal work day or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job. Likewise, people need extra time to devote to personal matters, and our approach to flexibility provides for this.
Skills & Qualifications

·  A successful candidate will possess the following skills and behaviors:
·  Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must.
·  A university degree in Engineering. (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Mechatronics, Automotive or similar discipline are preferred)
·  Minimum3-5 years of progressive work experience within industry performing a role involving Manufacturing, Chemical, Mechanical/Automotive or Materials Engineering. Experience with the SR&ED program is desirable but not required.
·  Experience in roles that required a client-centric focus when completing deliverables.
·  Possess skills to effectively conduct examinations of R&D activities, gather information from a variety of sources and articulate views in a clear manner.
·  Ability to effectively use previous experience and technical knowledge to the benefit of the client.
·  Excellent project management skills to timely and consistently deliver high quality results.
·  Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with co-workers, management and clients. .
·  A desire for self-improvement through continuous learning.
·  Willingness to travel.
