Job Description

KPMG360° launched in September 2015, as our one firm apprenticeship programme, offering the structure, support and progression for apprentices to progress to assistant manager and beyond. Through business rotations, apprentices spend their first three years at KPMG building varied experience and studying towards professional qualifications. Apprentices will then specialise, and spend a further three years working towards chartered status in either Audit, Tax or Advisory, or alternatively apply to a permanent position relevant to the skills they have gained.

The Role

The role holder is accountable for the effective, cross-functional resource management of apprentices, and development of required processes and reporting schedules. The role holder is required to have an excellent understanding of the skill sets required by different business areas, and provide coaching and support to apprentices, enabling them to build a portfolio of experience that will best equip them for their chosen specialism. Working closely with key stakeholders, the role holder ensures apprentices are resourced flexibly to meet changing business requirements, and actively seeks opportunities to open new opportunities and drive chargeability and cost savings. The role holder will be responsible for the apprentices’ specialisation process, working closely with the programme lead and student recruitment to ensure the right balance of apprentices across business functions.

Delivery

- Allocation of apprentices to projects, drawing on robust negotiation skills and commercial awareness to resolve conflicts. Escalate issues where necessary.
- Balance individuals’ aspirations with business requirements and apply fair and sensible judgement in the allocation of resources, managing expectations of apprentices’ appropriately.
- Has a rich understanding of skills required by different business functions, and support apprentices to plan and undertake business rotations that will equip them with the best skills and experience for their chosen specialism.
- Influences key stakeholders to broaden the range of roles available to apprentices. Drives utilisation, and seeks cost savings through effective and innovative deployment of apprentices.
- Project manages the process by which apprentices will specialise in their preferred business function, working closely with Student Recruitment, Learning and Resourcing. Works with apprentices, BOLs and People Leaders to understand demand, and ensures that apprentices are allocated in line with their experience, aspirations and feedback. Uses negotiation skills to resolve issues and find solutions that balance the needs of apprentices and the business.
- Seeks feedback from key stakeholders at all levels and drives improvements to the programme. Promotes and raises awareness of the programme internally.
- Acts as a key point of contact for learning and PQA to ensure learning is timed appropriately to equip apprentices with the skills they need. Balances cross-functional business requirements to minimise impact to the business of training activity.
- Plays a key role in decisions related to recruitment numbers, and allocation of apprentices across business functions.

MI and Reporting

- Provides direction and oversight to offshore resource administrator in the creation of MI and Retain updates.
- Distributes monthly MI and commentary – provides challenge and insight to key stakeholders to drive utilisation and continually refine role portfolio
- Works with wider resource management community to analyse resource data and highlight any highlight any concerns in periods of peak holiday, training or non-chargeable activity that will impact business performance. Identifies where apprenticeship can support periods of resource shortages.
- Works with programme lead to forecast expected destinations and progression of apprentices based on historical data, and feeds into workforce planning activity.

Stakeholder Management

- Build and maintain strong relationships with PLs, BOLs and other cross-functional stakeholders, including the wider resourcing team and key members of the people function. Work closely with the programme lead to keep this diverse stakeholder group up to date on programme developments.
- Work closely with KPMG360°management team to identify the right opportunities to support apprentices to grow and develop.
- Input into KPMG360°learning curriculum through sharing insights from the business on current skills gaps and future skills needs. Present at monthly cascade calls, inductions and forums to ensure that apprentices have a full understanding of resourcing processes.
- Acts as a sounding board for apprentices, supporting them to make decisions on business rotations and their career pathway, offering insight and challenge.
- Challenges role specifications to ensure each placement is stretching and value adding, and that apprentices understand how roles contribute to the success of the organisation.

Experience and Background

- Resourcing background gained in a Professional Services environment or similar
- Resilient and capable of working in a challenging, continuously changing environment
- Confident, assertive and have the ability to prioritise and manage both the workload of themselves and the team within which they operate.
