Job description

The Resource Manager has overall responsibility for client facing professionals within their service area, which includes the assignment of resources at all levels. The objective is to align individual career development and preferences with client assignment needs as well as the financial objectives of the business.

This role will support our Advisory practice and report to the Resource Manager Lead.

What you will do

·  Identify available resources, matching skills with engagement requirements and coordinating engagement staffing with partners, managers, and staff. Where required, facilitate the use of resources from within other functions/areas
·  Follow up with staff on their availability and understand when resources will be coming available, flexibility in timing of availability, and staff skills and interest
·  Maintain a solid understanding of the resources areas of expertise, skills sets, project experiences and staffing preferences
·  Monitoring the peaks and valleys in volumes and liaising with appropriate contractor supplier entities
·  Managing overtime, where possible and monitoring accrued overtime
·  Understand engagements that are unstaffed and where it makes sense, deploy resources to other areas outside your group and/or other offices
·  Facilitate conflict resolution with respect to staffing
·  Interact/connect with Partners and managers in each office to better understand staffing needs
·  Work with Leadership to review high and low utilization and to better deploy resources to create a more balanced utilization on an individual basis
·  Monitor chargeable hours and progress toward meeting goals
·  Understand staffing involved to complete proposals
·  Understand non-chargeable hours and their impact on overall utilization
·  Monitor compliance with the resource management tool and work with Schedulers to ensure that resource forecasts are up-to-date and accurate with available information
·  Perform analysis of utilization and identify developing trends and work to develop a course of action to reduce unassigned hours and achieve planned results
·  Produce and provide input to leadership with utilization reports, forecasts and variance reports
·  Provide advanced warning of problems/ resource availability
·  Provide input into the mid and year end performance management process, including information on compliance with updating the resource management tool and variance between forecasted hours, as well as willingness to assist on engagements
·  Socialize new hires by circulating resumes in advance in an effort to get them booked
·  Training resources to use the resource management tool
·  May make recommendations for staff training

What you bring to the role

·  Strategic and innovative thinking skills with strong problem-solving and project management skills, including the ability to understand the financial impact of relevant options
·  3 years of experience in a professional services environment either in a Client Facing, or Resource Management role is required
·  Ability to translate business requirements/needs into suggested programs and actions
·  Experience managing people in a professional services environment
·  A passion for client service and focused achievement of business results
·  Strong relationship building skills with experience engaging leaders at all levels and partnering with internal teams
·  Ability to demonstrate empathy, optimism and patience in working with consultants in reviewing their personal development needs
·  Excellent communication skills (written/verbal), Control under pressure
·  Ability to work and navigate effectively in a matrix organization/partnership structure
·  Ability to be open minded, practical and agile with change and effectively manage pressure
·  Excellent judgment; has a broad view and good common sense
·  Strong leadership image, impeccable ethical standards and integrity, objectivity, confidence and dedication
·  Post-Secondary/ University Degree
·  Advanced Excel Skills
