Job Description

The Team

The role focuses on transforming Financial Crime Technology for global financial institutions through Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Network Analysis, and Statistical Modeling. Our team builds and deploys state-of-the-art machine learning models that tackle anti-money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, and electronic crime. We are recruiting a data scientist to join our team and build machine learning models in a fast-paced, results-driven, and client focused environment.

In addition to developing your technical skills, learning how to deploy machine learning models to production, and keeping up to date with the latest machine learning tools, you will be working in a multi-disciplinary team of consultants, analysts, and financial services professionals. The work is highly varied, and you will have the opportunity to gain strong consulting and business experience whilst managing key engagement client contacts.

The Role:

- Develop end-to-end machine learning and natural language processing capabilities to combat financial crime within global financial institutions
- Deploy machine learning models to production for real-time processing of banking transactions
- Perform network analysis to determine how payments traverse countries and institutions
- Collaborate on model development with subject matter experts in financial services and financial crime
- Prepare and analyse financial data, enhance datasets with web scraping routines, and identify statistical patterns and anomalies within complex, multifaceted datasets
- Design both static and interactive data visualizations to effectively communicate model results to stakeholders
- Continue training and gaining knowledge in data science techniques and technologies through coursework and international conferences
- Develop presentation, communication, project management, and consulting skills
- Assist with the scoping, production and review of client deliverables
- Build cohesive relationships with clients and colleagues within KPMG

The Person:

This exciting role will give you the opportunity to utilize and broaden your machine learning, programming, and consulting skills.

From your experience you will be able to demonstrate one or more of the following skill sets and expertise:

- Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related scientific fields
- Minimum of 1 year experience in applying machine learning models.

- Data Visualization
Software and Scripting
- Required: Python, R, SQL
- Desired: C/C++, Scala, Java, TensorFlow, H20, Perl, Apache Spark, HTML/CSS
Financial Services (Desired)
- Knowledge of or experience working with Transaction Monitoring technologies, for example NICE Actimize, BAE Systems, Oracle (Mantas), Siron, Apama etc.
- An understanding of customer segmentation, transaction monitoring rules/thresholds and scenarios.
- A functional understanding of anti-money laundering regulations and legislation.
- An understanding of SWIFT messages and international banking
- An understanding of customer systems used by financial institutions
- A practical understanding of international sanctions and regulations.

- Self-starter, intellectually curious, and able to work independently to complete technical projects
