Corporate Tax - Assistant Manager

KPMG's Tax Centre of Excellence carries out the vast majority of the tax compliance work across the whole UK Firm and comprises over over 300 qualified tax compliance experts and supporting staff. Our vision is to become the most respected compliance team in the UK and help our clients cope with their rapidly changing tax compliance needs. We have 3 main locations in Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, but also support a large number of remote workers, in short we offer flexibility in our ways of working. Over the next 2 years we are looking to increase both our scope of specialisations and our service offering as well as deploying class leading tax technology to deliver a great service to KPMG's clients.

KPMG's Private Capital Tax practice is a dynamic and successful area of our business. A constantly changing and increasingly high-profile field, Private Capital Tax can offer an exciting broad range of quality career paths to ambitious people. Working with multi-generational family and private-equity backed businesses through to owner-managed and fast-growing start-ups, life at KPMG will give you the opportunity to develop relationships with clients assisting them with all their strategic tax requirements. This involves working with clients to produce complex tax computations and returns for HM Revenue & Customs and giving advice on corporate planning and restructuring projects, both at the company and shareholder level.
The role involves a mix of tax advisory services and compliance management. This will include:
- Managing client relationships and becoming the focal tax point of contact.
- Understanding the client's business and identifying areas for the provision of tax and other services.
- Managing the tax compliance process
- Driving the tax advice on a wide range of projects.
- Managing teams and coaching and developing staff.
- Ensuring all risk procedures are adhered to.
The successful candidate will have the following skills:
- Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax and an awareness of other tax and accounting areas. M&A tax and/or international tax experience would be an advantage but is not a requirement
- Strong interpersonal skills in addition to strong oral and written communication skills
- High level analytical skills and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice
- Ability to work as part of a multifunctional team
- Strong task and team management skills
- Ability to build client relationships
- Good computational and excel skills
- Good technology skills
