The Role


KPMG LLP's national restructuring practice has over [600] staff in [25] offices around the UK. We provide two distinct types of service: restructuring advice to companies who are under performing or experiencing liquidity problems and recovery advice and assistance to insolvent companies, their creditors and other stakeholders.

KPMG LLP has long established restructuring and recovery teams in the UK and has advised on many of the major company restructurings as well as handling some of the highest profile corporate insolvencies. The Restructuring team offers a range of services to both companies and their stakeholders, which include independent business reviews; operational and financial restructuring; cash management; managed exits; general insolvency advice and formal insolvency appointments.

We are currently looking for a Cashier to join the National Markets team within Restructuring, based in London. The role will involve working on insolvency assignments and will be office based.

Responsibilities


The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring cheques received are recorded correctly, banked and input into IPS within the timescales set out in our cash procedures.
- Importing and processing of all available bank transactions files. Monitoring any automatically produced ‘direct receipts’ and ensuring these are dealt with promptly.
- Producing and processing ISA and CHAPS/faster payments.
- Printing of cheques including distributions for home office and when necessary across other data areas.
- Ensuring that all the above payment types have the correct backing documentation and are coded correctly.
- Processing bank transfer and journal transactions, ensuring that the correct backing documentation is attached and correct coding has been used.
- Monitoring ‘other actions’ to ensure transactions are dealt with within the correct timescale and liaising with engagement teams regarding any outstanding transactions.
- Reviewing ‘funds summary’ and ‘R&P diary’ reports to ensure all estate bank accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and there are no late statutory returns.
- Closing estate bank accounts.
- Archiving IPS cases, ensuring all diary lines are signed off, bank accounts are closed and VAT journals have been completed.
- Liaising with banks and build relationships.
- Troubleshooting bank related issues.
- Being one of the first points of contact for staff with IPS/TPS and cashiering related queries.

The Person


The key skills required are:
- At least one to two years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an insolvency practice but also in wider industry.
- Highly organised and have an ability to prioritise effectively.
- To have the flexibility to be able to respond to sudden and sharp changes in workload.
- Common sense and an eye for detail/accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and professional in times of stress.
- The confidence and ability to challenge more senior staff and correct coding and/or procedural errors identified.

Additional Information/Qualifications


Knowledge and experience of the insolvency accounting system, IPS would be an advantage.
