KTO Engineers [Project Engineer, R&D Designer, Visual Designer, PCM] create and concretize ideas in KTO projects into finalised designs. He/she creates innovative and competitive solutions for new elevator/escalator products or components in line with KONE Solution Creation Processes and KONE Guidelines. 

KTO Engineers working in PCM execute problem solving actions to respond quickly to urgent PCM related problems in business units. He/she assists the PCM Manager to analyse change requests and creates detailed proposals of changes in specific technology area such as component design, strength calculations, tool and systems, layout drawings system behaviour. 

KTO Engineer’s are typically responsible for single components. The scope of this role will depend on the project, its size and complexity and the relevant business process.

Create technical/visual design concepts and implement using standard tools/templates

* Create design proposals as response to given specification 

* Create ideas

* Propose which ones to work on

* Develop concept or prototype

* Finalise the design

* Ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements, technical codes and standards

Execute problems solving actions to respond quickly to issues in business processes

* Identify the problem or issue

* Specify and deliver the solution

* Initiate corrective or preventive actions when appropriate

Create/maintain and provide correct design data for project & stakeholder collaboration

* Design data, product model

* Product data as part of product model

* Drawings

Develop capability

* Create performance improvement ideas (process & tool know-how)

* Take development actions (own design know-how)

Authority to decide

* Proposing justified design ideas/solutions to problems to work on

* Project plan - how own work is organised. 

* Effective way of using own time

* Effective ways of using tools
