Job description
Following restructuring, the schools within The Coastal Academies Trust are looking for two enthusiastic and flexible Senior IT Technicians to join us in supporting two of Thanet’s highest performing selective and non-selective schools.
As this is a school based role and involves working with children and young adults the the successful candidates will be subject to enhanced checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
About the Schools
Dane Court Grammar School and King Ethelbert School are part of the Coastal Academies Trust (CAT) which also includes, Hartsdown Academy and Cliftonville Primary School.
Dane Court Grammar School is an outstanding, mixed, selective 11 - 18 school in the charming seaside resort of Broadstairs. The school has recently benefitted from a £20 million BSF rebuild. We are an IB World School and a Teaching School, working in partnership with schools in Sandwich, Canterbury, Herne Bay and Thanet.
King Ethelbert School is an 11-18 mixed, non-selective school situated in Birchington with approximately 800 students on roll. King Ethelbert School is federated with Dane Court Grammar School which has meant that although we are officially an 11-16 school we have been able to start a Sixth Form which is now in its third year. The Trust is at the forefront of many exciting new initiatives locally, nationally and internationally.

About the Role
The Senior IT Support Technician role within the Coastal Academies Trust is a wide-ranging and varied role, taking in IT systems management, monitoring and support at Dane Court Grammar School and King Ethelbert School. Each Senior IT Support Technician will be based primarily at one school; however, the role may involve the provision of support in a temporary or ongoing capacity at either school, depending on need.
As part of the IT Support team the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the IT needs of all staff and students across the schools in all settings. The Senior IT Support Technician will report to the IT Systems Manager and be supported by, and provide mentoring to, a Junior Technician; they will be closely involved in all aspects of support as well as monitoring and maintaining the IT systems and infrastructure.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a strong knowledge of, or background in supporting:
Microsoft Active Directory Domain environments, including:
- Group Policy
- Account Management
- DNS
- Permissions
- RADIUS
Domain integrated systems, including:
- Operating system and software deployment services
- Email and productivity suites
- Managed print solutions
- Anti-virus
Hardware, including:
- Dell Servers
- Apple Server and Desktop operating systems
- Dell / HP Desktop computers
- HP and Lenovo laptop computers
- Chromebooks
- Cisco and HP Networking equipment
- Network Attached Storage devices
