Job description
Job purpose:
To post is based in the Planning Services. The post holder will work within the development management function to a) to validate planning applications and b) assist in the provision of an efficient and effective development management planning service.
The post holder will take the lead on all duties set out below.
Duties and Responsabilities:
- Professional Validation of Planning Applications
- To professionally validate and process all types of planning applications including checking submissions against national and local checklists and relevant guidance, checking accuracy of the drawings, identifying statutory and non-statutory consultees in compliance with the Council’s Statement of Community Involvement and working practices.
- Providing advice on planning aspects
- To provide information, guidance and advice as required to Councillors, applicants, developers and their agents, members of the public, local organisations, other Council departments and others on planning matters such as urban design, S106 requirements, scoping of planning applications, EIA studies, reserved matters and planning conditions, etc.
- Provide responses to the correspondence and telephone queries including pre-application queries, members enquiries, complaints and telephone/E-mails within the Council’s Corporate timescales.
Liaison with officers
In planning policy, development management, highways, urban design, transport etc
Professional development
- To keep abreast of planning legislation
Processing CIL procedures in line with current legislation
- To review and check CIL payments on a wide range of planning applications, produce associated communications to applicants / agents regarding the payment requirements and associated processes.process a wide range of planning applications, including applications for residential extension
Other duties of a similar nature
- To undertake other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature and of a similar responsibility to those described above, which may be allocated from time to time. Provide cover for absent team members (phone cover, at meetings, site inspections etc.) if and when required
