In your role as a Food Technologist you will work as part of a dynamic team to help us grow the European business by supporting and leading projects that deliver against our European Strategy. Our responsibilities include the development and implementation of innovative Cereal and ambient Snack products and improving product quality, cost, productivity and capacity in operations within Europe.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
In your role as a Lead Food Technologist you will work as part of a dynamic team to help us grow the European business by:
· Provide technical leadership throughout the project including developing technical timelines, providing risk and shelf-life assessments, input to stage-gate documents and meetings
· Being the main recommender to the Cereal & Snacks Business Units in all decisions regarding food image and production acceptability on 1st production runs
· Responsible for development of product to meet food brief requirements, cost targets, timing milestones, relevant food safety regulations, quality standards, shelf-life, and customer & consumer needs
· Evaluates and applies innovative solutions or new technologies and raw materials in the area of process and product development
· Sets the food image, provides documentation and communicates image specification and limits of acceptability to the manufacturing and quality team to enable the product to be consistently replicated.
· Provides technical or scientific direction within the department and European business. Partners with Marketing, Sales, Category Management and Supply Chain.
· Supports the RNT goals and accountabilities, policies and initiatives. Strives to make improvements to key policies and processes within the department.
· Supports the development and progression of more junior Food Technologists through on-boarding and formal and informal training and mentoring.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DEMONSTRATE?

Required:
· You will have a degree or equivalent in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field
· Relevant experience within the food industry as a Food Technologist or Food Scientist, preferably in Cereal products or ambient snacks. Understanding of consumer insights, raw materials, equipment and processes.
· Passion for creative product development and demonstrable hands-on process experience, taking projects from ideation to market
· Ability to evaluate cost savings and execute delivery of cost saving projects.
WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?
· Based at UK Head Office with potential for considerable travel throughout Europe and internationally as required
· Role will require work in a food manufacturing environment
· The position may occasionally require working beyond the normal workdays hours and on weekend and public/bank holidays
· Demanding and changing schedules require adaptability and highly developed prioritisation skills.
