Test Engineer - CAE division / Automotive

Location: Either Gaydon, Midlands or Dunton, Essex

JOB SPECIFICS
The CAE Test Engineering team delivers durability data to support durability CAE departments, system and component test areas.

• Instrumenting vehicles and proving ground to obtain measured road load data (RLD) creating data reports to summarise and archiving of data
• The archiving of data to the Corporate RLD
• Additional process development including arranging user guides and internal familiarisation for existing team members
• Supporting measurement campaigns
• Prototype build and update co-ordinator working with internal global teams
• Upfront Liaison between Engineering, Calibration, Fleet workshop, etc.
• Planning, scheduling and executing the builds and updates
• Coordinate dynamic Sign off of vehicles and ensure vehicles are safe and UK Road legal

QUALIFICATION

• Engineering Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline
• Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and the fundamental physics that influence their operation
• Knowledge of transducers used for instrumentation of vehicles to gain RLD
• Practical knowledge within MATLAB, Nsoft, LMS, Prosig or similar environment
• Fundamentals of vehicle instrumentation, strain gauges, accelerometers, load cells
• Data acquisition and/or manipulation of physical data
• Related engineering experience in mechanical durability (preferably vehicle based) Experience of automating tasks/processes with macros
• Analytical approach to problem solving and proactive delivery and commitment
• Proficient with MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word; ability to manipulate and present data in meaningful ways according to the requirement
• Business fluency in English
