Mechanical Projects Engineer - Newcastle - Upto £40k
Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the Mechanical Projects Engineer is to provide first class general engineering support centred on Production Engineering, NPI - New Product Introduction, Technology Acquisition, Process Improvements and Design and Analysis support.
The Mechanical Projects Engineer will join this US owned organisation focused on the aerospace and manufacturing sectors to:
- Push process knowledge forward via focused studies and a data driven/analysis approach
- Extend the company's abilities with difficult materials (such as Inconel and titanium)
- Provide technical lead/support on the NPI Process, ensuring all customer technical requirements are incorporated into engineering documents and electronic data sets
- Provide technical lead/support for machine and process development projects
- Lead mechanical design projects including:
o Lead PFMEA, PDR, CDR, PMR, and TIM activities for assigned projects
o Preparation of a technical requirements project plan to track tasks and project timeline
o Preparation of all project bills of materials for parts and tooling
o Preparation of all project methods masters
o Preparation of all project manufacturing drawings
o Preparation of work instructions when required
o Preparation of subcontract statements of work when required
o Preparation of inspection plans
o Perform design analysis as required by the project requirements
o Generate CAD (Solidworks) models or derivations from customer supplied CAD models
- Perform engineering analysis as required
- Work closely with customers technical representatives to develop solutions that can be manufactured by the company
- Introduce new knowledge and capabilities to the company
- Liaise with subcontractors for engineering services that are required
- Lead project teams as required
- Evaluate, research, and perform due diligence of new technology(s) under the direction of the team
- Visits to Customer Plants including preparation and presentation of technical data
- Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement activities on existing product lines
The Mechanical Projects Engineer should:
- Have a suitable qualification, ideally to degree level, in a relevant subject
- Have a strong engineering and project management awareness
- Be able to work internally and externally to the organisation, traveling as required
- Have worked in a similarly focused role within a relevant mechanical manufacturing organisation/sector
- Be able to comply with any and all reasonable requests made by management.
