PERMANENT POSITION - Are you an experienced Functional Safety - Chief Engineer within the Defence, Automotive or Aerospace Engineering Manufacturing environment. A prestigious global engineering company in the Midlands, with a strength in the engineering field of Defence Engineering is seeking a strong and experienced Functional Safety - Chief Engineer. Responsibilities of the Functional Safety - Chief Engineer:

• Principal role in technical management of functional safety projects for internal and external customers technical ownership of one key business stream within FS PG - to be consultancy and engineering in either functional safety, systems engineering, reliability engineering, or cyber security
• Functional Safety Planning and Management - incl. verification and validation planning
• Functional safety engineering tasks - developing safety concepts, requirements and architecture
• Delivering training on functional safety with functional safety consultancy and guidance
• Developing safety arguments - safety cases
• Independent safety assessment - confirmation measures

Overall Job Scope Functional Safety - Chief Engineer:

• Degree in electrical or electronic engineering, systems engineering or a relevant related discipline
• Electrical or electronics engineer, systems engineer or software architect with ideally a minimum 5 years in an embedded systems environment
• Automotive-relevant safety-related systems standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 26262
• Off-highway or earth-moving safety-related standards e.g. ISO 15998, BS EN 474
• Machinery safety-related standards e.g. ISO 13849
• System level architectural design and technical review
• Safety analysis techniques e.g. FMEA, FTA (qualitative and quantitative), HAZOP etc. applied at the systems level and hardware part level
• Embedded Hardware/Software design and technical review for safety-related systems
• Defence safety-related systems standards such as Def Stan 00-56 and DO-254
• Engineering process development and practical implementation, including CMMI, ISO 15504 (SPICE)
• Be willing to travel and work flexibly: involve periods time spent overseas, and to customer facilities requiring travel within the UK for 1 to 3 days per week

**Must be able to attain Security Clearance / ITAR Compliant**
